Key responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain scalable, low-latency backend services and APIs in Go.
  • Write clean, idiomatic, well-tested code, with strong unit and integration test coverage.
  • Build event-driven and concurrent systems using goroutines, channels and message brokers such as Kafka.
  • Design REST and gRPC APIs with clear contracts, versioning and documentation.
  • Deploy and operate services on AWS, Azure or GCP using Docker, Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines, observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and production support for your services.
  • Apply secure coding practices and support PCI-DSS, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 controls.
  • Profile and tune performance, resilience and cost across the platform.
  • Lead design and code reviews, and contribute to architecture decisions.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers and share knowledge across squads.
  • Work with clients and stakeholders to turn business needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

Essential skills and experience

  • 7+ years of backend software engineering, including 3+ years building production systems in Go.
  • Deep knowledge of Go concurrency, the standard library, error handling, context and modules.
  • Proven experience designing microservices and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on with REST and gRPC (Protocol Buffers).
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL skills, e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB or DynamoDB.
  • Experience with messaging and streaming platforms such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or NATS.
  • Production experience with Docker, Kubernetes and at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP).
  • Testing discipline: unit, integration and contract tests; familiarity with TDD.
  • CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins.
  • Observability with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or Datadog.
  • Solid grasp of security fundamentals: OAuth2, OIDC, TLS, secrets management.
  • Clear written and spoken English, and confidence working with clients.
