Full description

Why You’ll Love the Job: You’ll build the backend systems that power affordable, subscription-based healthcare for thousands of patients. You’ll own real services end-to-end — from design to production — and see your work directly shape how people access care. You’ll work closely with Product, Architecture, and Frontend in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where your technical decisions carry weight and your ideas matter.

Role Overview: We’re looking for a Software Engineer II who owns the development of well-scoped backend services and features that power Subscribili’s platform. You work independently on assigned problems, write production-grade Go, and partner with Product and senior engineers to turn requirements into reliable, well-tested systems.

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

This role is organized around five core areas. Each describes what we expect you to own and deliver.

Design & Development

  • Design, build, test, and deploy backend services and APIs in Golang for features of moderate complexity.
  • Translate product requirements into clean, maintainable code following established patterns and standards.
  • Integrate with frontend applications, third-party APIs, and databases.

Code Quality & Testing

  • Write unit and integration tests; treat testing as part of “done.”
  • Participate actively in code reviews — both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Follow team conventions for readability, error handling, and documentation.

Architecture & Technical Direction

  • Contribute to design discussions and propose approaches for your features.
  • Make sound implementation-level decisions; escalate larger architectural calls.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Collaborate with Product, Architects, and Frontend to scope and deliver work.
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and trade-offs clearly.

Operations, Reliability & Security

  • Monitor and troubleshoot the services you own; fix bugs and address performance issues.
  • Follow secure-coding practices and handle data responsibly — including PHI — across backend systems.

Core Technical Skills:

The capabilities we expect you to bring to the role, grouped by area.

Languages & Foundations

  • Solid proficiency in Golang and its ecosystem.
  • Working understanding of concurrency, goroutines, and channels.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, with the ability to deliver scoped projects independently.
  • Working knowledge of Python is a big plus.

AI-Assisted Development

  • Uses AI coding tools effectively but treats generated code as a draft — reviews it, runs and tests it locally to confirm correctness, and catches security and performance issues before raising a PR.

APIs & Architecture

  • Experience building RESTful APIs (gRPC a plus).
  • Hands-on experience developing within a microservices architecture.

Data Stores

  • Core: a relational database — PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
  • Nice to have: exposure to DynamoDB (NoSQL) and/or Redis (caching) — these are a plus, not a requirement.

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Comfortable working in a cloud environment (we run on AWS), with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Git.
  • Our backend runs on AWS Elastic Beanstalk and Lambda; specific experience with these services isn’t required — if you know Docker or any container-orchestration tooling, you’ll get up to speed quickly.
  • As our platform scales, we’re expanding into container orchestration (ECS/EKS, Kubernetes), so container experience is a strong plus.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in healthcare, fintech, or analytics-driven platforms.
  • Familiarity with event tracking, system monitoring, and payment workflows.
  • Understanding of compliance, data privacy, or healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA/PHI).

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: Attractive package based on your experience, skills, and impact.
  • Equity Options: Share in Subscribili’s growth and long term success.
  • Health and Wellness: Comprehensive health coverage for you and your family, including medical benefits, term insurance, and complimentary annual health checkups.
  • Office Meals: 2 meals per day provided in office to support convenience, collaboration, and team connection.
  • Onsite Role with Flexible Hours: This is a full time onsite role based in HSR Layout, Bangalore.
  • Generous Leave: Paid vacation, sick leave, and parental leave.
  • Learning and Growth: Access to courses, workshops, and leadership development opportunities.
  • Career Development: Opportunity to build and lead the People function as Subscribili scales.
  • Mission Driven Culture: Join a team that cares deeply about employees, patients, providers, and the future of affordable healthcare.
