Job DetailsLevel: ManagementJob Location: FORT WORTH, TX 76164Job Category: Hospitality - HotelROLE SUMMARY: The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the Assistant Director of Engineering in overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and long-term care of the hotel’s physical plant and systems. This role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and asset protection while driving preventative maintenance programs, supporting team development, and enhancing the overall guest and team member experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Engineering department, including assigning, prioritizing, and tracking work orders.
  • Support the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, water treatment, and life safety systems.
  • Monitor and ensure timely, high-quality completion of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Inspect the property regularly to assess conditions, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, brand standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to and coordinate emergency maintenance and repair situations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for maintenance, inspections, and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in managing department budgets, tracking expenses, and supporting capital expenditure projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, services, and projects.
  • Lead the Engineering team in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, communication, and teamwork within the department.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of Engineering team members.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance management to ensure team success.
  • Ensure team members are equipped with proper tools, supplies, and uniforms.
  • Partner with other departments to support operational needs and deliver exceptional guest service.
  • Promote a guest-focused mindset by ensuring all engineering functions contribute to a seamless and safe guest experience.
  • All other duties as assigned. ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and move throughout the property for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working in a variety of environments including mechanical rooms, rooftops, outdoors, and confined spaces.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position supervises Engineering team members (Engineer II, Engineer III, Engineer IV Kitchen Mechanic, Engineering Supervisor).
  • Responsible for scheduling, task delegation, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ensures adherence to safety protocols, operational standards, and company policies.

QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and execute effectively.
  • Flexible schedule — must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous hotel or luxury hospitality experience.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems (e.g., HotSOS, Synergy, or similar platforms).
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and capital project planning.
  • Technical certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trades).
