About the role
You will lead the development of IoT systems, focusing on embedded software, system architecture, and hardware-firmware integration. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless end-to-end system integration and support the transition from development to mass production.
What they look for
Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or Computer Science. Several years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development, hardware design, and PCB layout review are required.
Full description
- Take ownership of the development of IoT systems, with a focus on embedded software, system architecture, and hardware and firmware integration
- Design and develop robust, efficient, and scalable embedded software for IoT products based on microcontroller platforms and, optionally, Linux based systems
- Provide technical guidance for hardware development in collaboration with external partners, including reviewing and challenging PCB designs to ensure functionality, quality, and manufacturability
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and cloud engineering teams to ensure seamless end to end system integration
- Define and refine product requirements from initial concept through to mass production in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and integrate prototypes and support the transition from development into serial production together with manufacturing partners
- Contribute to the continuous evolution of the embedded platform, including MCU based solutions as well as optional Linux and Yocto based components
- Develop pragmatic testing strategies to ensure the functionality, reliability, and quality of both hardware and firmware
- Support development and manufacturing partners with debugging, technical documentation, and production ramp up
- Provide Level 3 technical support for complex system, firmware, and hardware related issues
- Travel approximately 5 to 10 percent to support development partners, product validation activities, and product launches
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Several years of hands on experience in embedded development, including firmware development and hardware related engineering
- Strong understanding of hardware design and PCB layouts, with the ability to review design decisions and collaborate effectively with hardware development teams
- Strong expertise in embedded firmware development and software architecture for microcontroller platforms such as ARM Cortex, ESP32, or STM32
- Experience with sensor integration and wireless communication technologies such as BLE and WiFi
- Experience with embedded Linux systems, particularly Yocto, is an advantage, especially in environments combining System on Modules with MCU based architectures
- Broad system level understanding of mechanics, sensors, actuators, and their integration into robust IoT products
- Hands on experience with hardware testing, debugging tools, and automated production testing
- Familiarity with certification standards such as CE and FCC is an advantage
- Fluent in German and English, with additional languages considered a plus
