Job Description

MegaNexus (An NEC Company) – Database Administrator

INTRODUCTION 

Meganexus (An NEC Company) has lead rehabilitation ICT for over a decade, and our aim is to support 

and develop software that continues to help vulnerable people build better lives. Our software platform 

places each individual service user at the heart of every solution and operates in over 120 prisons and 

NHS trusts. 

Our platform enables supporting staff on the front line to focus on delivery of services and face-to-face 

time to deliver personalised interventions. Coupled with a library of your organisations curated digital 

content, the platform is an empowering, co-designed digital asset for services users, front line staff and 

organisations.

You will be responsible for:-

• Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL database environments.

• Ensure database availability, performance, reliability, and security.

• Perform database performance tuning and optimize SQL queries, indexes, stored procedures, and 

database objects to improve application performance.

• Troubleshoot database-related incidents and ensure timely resolution.

• Support application teams in resolving database performance and connectivity issues.

• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and access requests.

• Implement and maintain database security standards and compliance requirements.

• Investigate and resolve blocking, long-running queries, and locking issues.

• Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.

• Support application and development teams in resolving database-related issues and performance 

concerns.

Required Technical Skills:-

• B.Tech/MCA or equivalent qualification.

• 3-5 years of hands-on Database Administration experience.

• Strong experience with:

• Microsoft SQL Server

• MySQL

• PostgreSQL

• Strong knowledge of:

• SQL, T-SQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL

• Query Performance Tuning

• Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, and Triggers

• Index Management

• Database Security and User Management

• Database Monitoring and Troubleshooting

• Familiarity with Azure database environments and monitoring tools.

• Familiarity with programming languages like Java

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.

• Have the ability to work in teams and take instruction from a variety of people.
