Full description

The Financial Project Analyst has for objective to track and report on the profitability of projects. This role involves collaboration with project teams, clients and internal departments to ensure the financial performance and high quality of clinical research project management services.

RESPONSABILITIES

More specifically, the Project Financial Analyst must:

Project and budget set-up

  • Review and understand the client agreements and convert them into the Innovaderm internal cost structure
  • Create and configure projects in the project management and financial systems
  • Prepare and upload the project budget and related amendments impacting scope and/or timeline in the project management tool
  • Participate in the identification and the price assessment of the out-of-scope services.

Revenue / Expenses recognition and project reconciliation

As per month end schedule:

  • Ensure revenue and expenses are recognized based on Canadian GAAP and contractual requirements (including creation of journal entries for accruals and project allocation)
  • Review actual project revenues and costs compared to budget and forecast, identifying variances and their causes
  • Prepare and present detailed project financial reports, including but not limited to; profit and loss statement, financial projections (ETC and accrual report), invoicing status for internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of projects balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records of project data

Invoice management

  • Review project invoicing and provide expertise as needed
  • At the end of the study, ensure all invoices were produced and paid
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients on any questions related to the invoicing

Collaboration with project team

  • Work closely with project managers to understand project requirements and financial implications
  • Provide financial guidance and support to project teams, helping them manage budgets and control costs
  • Facilitate regular financial review meetings with project managers and clients to discuss budget status, invoicing and other financial items

Internal presentations and special projects

  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary financial documentation
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improved financial processes and tools

Requirements

IDEAL PROFILE

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting of related field
  • CPA certification, an asset

Experience

  • minimum of 4 years of experience in project accounting

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
  • Professional judgment and proven interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with financial management tools and office software (Excel, Power BI, ERP)
  • Comfortable working in an environment in constant evolution
