Full description
Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.
We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice.
Summary:
We're seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our Enterprise team focused on strategic initiatives to verticalize Clio’s enterprise products into specialized domains. Our Enterprise offerings cover Vincent, Clio's AI-powered legal intelligence platform, and Operate, our enterprise-grade practice and matter management platform. As part of Clio's Enterprise division, this role sits at the heart of our most ambitious growth story. Clio Operate and Vincent together form a category-defining product suite enabling untethered growth for legal clients worldwide. Operate grew revenue by ~100% in 2025, and Vincent is accelerating fast.
This role is available to candidates in Canada (excluding Quebec) and the US, with a strong preference for candidates based on the East Coast. If you are located near our Toronto or NYC hub, you will be expected to work in the office a minimum of twice per week on our designated Anchor Days.
What your team does
Design plays an integral role at Clio, making up one of the three pillars of our Research and Development organization alongside Product Management and Engineering. Product designers directly engage in researching the behaviors and needs of our users. They act as user experience champions as we work to transform the way that lawyers and their staff provide services to their clients. We empower Product Designers to shape how lawyers serve their clients. If you are passionate about user-centered design, mission-driven companies, and transforming how lawyers and their staff deliver exceptional client services, join us!
What you'll work on
- Design specialized, AI-driven workflows for distinct legal domains, including Finance, IP, Employment/Labour Law and Insurance Defense, translating deep domain nuance like case types, risk profiles, regulatory context into product decisions.
- Partner closely with legal architects, subject-matter experts, and legal-industry stakeholders to validate that workflows and output reflect how practitioners in each domain actually work
- Take early, high-ownership design leadership by helping shape problem definition, prioritization, and product direction in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders
- Evaluate Operate's existing capabilities and design patterns, and determine which should be adapted or rebuilt into Vincent to give these verticals a stronger foundation, rather than starting from scratch.
- Concept, prototype, and deliver design solutions for a corporate/in-house counsel audience alongside our traditional law-firm base, understanding how their workflows, risk tolerance, and priorities differ.
- Conduct user research interviews, usability testing, and analysis specific to employment and insurance practitioners.
- Leverage metrics to drive product design decisions and measure product success.
- Contribute to design critiques and share thoughtful feedback with the broader team.
- Help evolve design patterns and systems that support complex information architecture at scale.
- Demonstrate a keen interest in improving your craft using AI.
- Break down complex legal concepts into smaller, more manageable design problems.
- Additional duties as required.
What you bring
- 6+ years of experience in product design. SaaS or enterprise experience is preferred.
- Experience designing for complex, information-dense environments including knowledge management, research, or discovery products.
- A track record of shipping products that solve research or information workflow challenges and move company metrics.
- Proficiency in user research methodologies and the ability to translate findings into actionable design insights.
- Strong understanding of interaction design, information architecture, usability, and accessibility.
- Experience with modern design tools (Figma, Figma Make) and willingness to adopt new tools as needed.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile product development environment.
- Experience working on complex systems with large datasets, structured content, or AI-generated outputs.
- A keen interest in improving your craft using AI.
Bonus if you have...
- Familiarity with legal workflows, legal technology platforms, or enterprise SaaS ecosystems.
- Experience designing for regulated, high-stakes, or compliance-sensitive domains.
- Experience designing for in-house/corporate legal teams specifically, as distinct from law-firm users.
