Role

Support the delivery of impactful Arts programmes that connect artists, creative organisations, and cultural sectors across the UK and beyond. Build strong partnerships, enable high-quality programme delivery, and foster creative collaboration, cultural exchange, and innovation to drive inclusive growth and lasting impact through the arts.

Role Accountabilities

Sector / Subject Expertise

• Using local arts sector insight and global collaboration to deliver impactful arts programmes that meet country needs and support UK arts organisations.
• Maintaining knowledge of UK arts priorities and identifying opportunities for collaboration between UK and in-country arts sectors.

Leadership & Management

• Providing specialist expertise and collaborating with global Arts teams to ensure programmes are locally relevant and effectively delivered.
• Managing Arts activities to global standards while embedding EDI and anti-racist practices across programmes.

Strategy and Planning

• Supporting planning and delivery of the country arts portfolio, building internal alignment around strategic objectives.
• Leveraging digital products, services and channels to maximise portfolio impact and sustainability.

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

• Building and maintaining strong partnerships across the arts and wider cultural sectors to stay connected to key trends and opportunities.
• Developing a diverse network of creative and cultural sector stakeholders in-country.

Brand and Market Positioning

• Championing the diversity of the UK arts and creative industries sector and strengthening the British Council's value proposition.
• Developing communications that showcase impactful stories and reinforce the British Council's reputation as a valued not-for-profit partner.

Programme Management

• Managing project finances, contracts, procurement, grants, due diligence and reporting to ensure effective delivery.
• Leading project management plans, resolving and escalating issues as needed, and holding partners, consultants and team members accountable for delivery.

Qualifications

Education

• Degree and/or equivalent experience

Professional Qualification and Certification

• Project management or equivalent qualification or equivalent work experience

Role specific knowledge and experience

Essential

• Good knowledge and understanding of current trends and practices in at least one sector of the arts and creative industries in the country
• Demonstrated experience of working on national arts/ creative industry projects

Desirable

• Understanding and appreciation of current arts trends and practices in the UK
• Proven ability to deliver international arts projects and foster cross-cultural collaboration
