This position requires strong Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL expertise combined with hands-on knowledge of Vantagepoint database structures and transactional data.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level DBA who can trace Vantagepoint transactions through the database, troubleshoot complex data and performance issues, support integrations and upgrades, and ensure the availability, integrity, security, and performance of this critical financial and project management platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior SQL DBA and technical database subject-matter expert for Deltek Vantagepoint.
  • Administer, monitor, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases supporting Vantagepoint.
  • Troubleshoot complex Vantagepoint application and data issues by analyzing underlying tables, relationships, transactions, and SQL processes.
  • Develop and optimize advanced T-SQL, including queries, stored procedures, views, data validation routines, and controlled data-correction scripts.
  • Monitor and resolve SQL Server performance issues involving execution plans, indexing, statistics, blocking, deadlocks, CPU, memory, disk I/O, and database growth.
  • Support database backup, recovery, security, permissions, SQL Server Agent jobs, maintenance, and disaster-recovery processes.
  • Investigate data integrity and reconciliation issues involving Vantagepoint GL, AP, AR, billing, projects, labor, expenses, employees, vendors, and project accounting.
  • Trace transactions from Vantagepoint application screens and reports through the underlying SQL Server records to identify root causes.
  • Support Vantagepoint integrations, ETL processes, APIs, middleware, reporting solutions, and automated interfaces.
  • Provide database expertise for Vantagepoint upgrades, migrations, patches, environment refreshes, and production deployments.
  • Develop controlled production remediation scripts with appropriate validation, transaction handling, documentation, and rollback procedures.
  • Partner with Finance, IT, application support, integration teams, and Deltek Support to resolve complex production issues.
  • Establish and maintain SQL/database standards, monitoring practices, technical documentation, and production change controls.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration and development experience.
  • 3+ years supporting Deltek Vantagepoint, Deltek Vision, or a comparable enterprise ERP/financial database environment.
  • Advanced expertise in T-SQL, SQL Server performance tuning, execution plans, indexing, statistics, locking/blocking, transactions, security, backup/recovery, and SQL Server Agent.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database architecture, data integrity, and complex transactional systems.
  • Experience performing database-level troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for enterprise applications.
  • Experience developing and safely executing production SQL data-correction and reconciliation scripts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot across applications, database, integration, and reporting layers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred

  • Deep knowledge of Deltek Vantagepoint database architecture and data structures.
  • Experience supporting Vantagepoint accounting, billing, labor, expense, AP, AR, and project-accounting processes.
  • Experience with Vantagepoint upgrades, migrations, integrations, or Deltek Vision-to-Vantagepoint migrations.
  • Experience with Workato, Power BI, Microsoft Azure, APIs, ETL, or other enterprise integration and reporting technologies.
  • Experience supporting financial systems with formal audit, security, and change-control requirements.
