Work Location: Hybrid position: you may have to go off site and visit locations as needed and come into the office once a month or more depending on the project.
Work Hours: Day Shift with Core Business hours. Eastern standard time.
Responsibilities:
Project Leadership
- Lead medium to large-scale technology projects from initiation through implementation and post-production support.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, risk assessments, and communication strategies.
- Coordinate resources across IT, operational, clinical, and vendor teams.
- Facilitate project meetings, document action items, and ensure accountability for deliverables.
- Manage project scope, priorities, risks, issues, and escalation paths.
- Support organizational strategic initiatives, system upgrades, integrations, migrations, and application deployments.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
Systems Analysis & Solution Design
- Gather, analyze, and document business, operational, and technical requirements.
- Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Design and recommend system solutions that align with organizational standards and business goals.
- Create functional specifications, workflow diagrams, testing plans, and implementation documentation.
- Collaborate with technical teams to develop, configure, and implement solutions.
Application & Technical Support
- Provide advanced support for enterprise applications and interfaces.
- Investigate and resolve complex system issues across multiple integrated platforms.
- Analyze logs, interfaces, databases, and system configurations to identify root causes.
- Coordinate with vendors and technical teams to resolve high-priority incidents.
- Participate in system upgrades, maintenance activities, and go-live support.
Stakeholder Management
- Establish strong relationships with business, operational, and clinical stakeholders.
- Translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.
- Present project updates, recommendations, and status reports to leadership.
- Ensure stakeholder expectations are aligned throughout project execution.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate analysts.
- Lead project teams and influence cross-functional collaboration without direct supervisory authority.
- Promote best practices in project management, documentation, testing, and application support.
- Contribute to team development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Documentation & Governance
- Develop and maintain system documentation, support procedures, and knowledge repositories.
- Ensure compliance with organizational standards, change management processes, and security requirements.
- Support audit, regulatory, and operational reporting activities.
- Typically has 5+ years' experience with modern technology and application support through education or practical experience.
- Highly driven and self-motivated to exceed expectations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of information technology fundamental tools and concepts (SDLC) of one of the information technology professional disciplines and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a UPMC department or function.
- Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
- Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a standby status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the standby period. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
