Position Overview

Delaware Valley Paving is expanding its operations in the Dallas, Texas market and is seeking an experienced Paving Project Manager to oversee commercial paving and parking lot construction projects throughout the region.

This position is responsible for managing projects from contract award through completion and closeout, with a primary focus on commercial parking lot construction, asphalt paving, milling, concrete, site improvements, and related scopes of work.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing commercial paving projects and understands the operational requirements of successfully executing parking lot construction in active commercial environments. This individual will work closely with customers, field superintendents, crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and leadership skills. The successful candidate must be comfortable managing multiple active projects simultaneously and regularly visiting jobsites throughout the Dallas market.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage commercial paving and parking lot construction projects from contract award through final completion and closeout.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, sequencing, manpower requirements, equipment needs, and material coordination.
  • Coordinate project startup activities with field superintendents, crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers.
  • Oversee projects involving asphalt paving, milling, pavement repairs, concrete, drainage improvements, striping, and other related sitework.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, production, schedules, and overall profitability throughout the life of each project.
  • Review project scopes, contracts, plans, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, project documentation, and other project-related correspondence.
  • Identify potential project risks, delays, or operational challenges and develop proactive solutions.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, subcontractors, and field resources are properly coordinated to support project schedules.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, productivity, and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate project completion, punch-list items, final documentation, and closeout activities.

Customer & Field Coordination

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers throughout project execution.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding schedules, project progress, site access, operational impacts, and project changes.
  • Coordinate work in active commercial environments while minimizing disruption to customer operations, tenants, employees, and the public.
  • Work closely with field leadership to ensure crews understand project scope, sequencing, production expectations, and customer requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, property managers, general contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings, site walks, pre-construction meetings, and customer meetings as required.
  • Address project issues promptly and professionally while maintaining strong customer relationships.

Financial & Administrative Management

  • Track project costs, committed expenses, production performance, and profitability.
  • Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and alignment with project scope.
  • Prepare and manage change orders and additional work authorizations.
  • Support project billing, invoicing, collections, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular project updates to leadership regarding schedule, budget, production, risks, and overall project performance.

Safety & Quality

  • Promote and enforce company safety standards across all assigned projects.
  • Work closely with field leadership to ensure projects are completed in accordance with company procedures, project specifications, and quality expectations.
  • Identify and address safety, quality, or production concerns before they impact project performance.
  • Ensure completed work meets company standards and customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of construction project management experience, preferably within asphalt paving, commercial parking lot construction, roadway construction, sitework, or heavy civil construction.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt paving, milling, pavement repair, commercial parking lot construction, and related construction operations.
  • Experience managing multiple active construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, production planning, cost control, and construction operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents.
  • Experience coordinating field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and project schedules.
  • Strong customer service, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to identify problems quickly and develop practical solutions in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction/project management software.
  • Experience with ERP or construction financial management systems is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel regularly to project sites throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth market.

  • Ability to work in person in the Dallas, Texas market.
  • Ability to regularly travel to jobsites, customer meetings, project meetings, and company locations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, customers, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with field and office teams.
  • Comfortable working in both office and active construction jobsite environments.
