Your Role • The Software Architect provides hands-on technical leadership for IntraFi Business Process applications that support complex financial workflows. This role defines and guides the architecture of Java-based systems that manage business rules, transaction processing, data integrity, validation, exception handling, operational resiliency, and practical AI-enabled capabilities. The architect works closely with engineering, product, quality, security, and infrastructure partners to turn business needs into practical, maintainable solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and technical design of Java-based Business Process applications and platform capabilities.

• Translate complex business requirements into clear solution designs, implementation plans, and measurable non-functional requirements.

• Design reliable processing flows for business rules, transaction lifecycle management, validation, exception handling, auditability, and data reconciliation.

• Guide engineers on application structure, code quality, testing strategy, performance, security, and operational supportability.

• Establish relational data design and SQL practices that protect data integrity and support performant, scalable processing.

• Partner with product and business stakeholders to resolve ambiguity, identify risks early, and make sound technical tradeoffs.

• Conduct design reviews and maintain architecture artifacts, including solution designs, diagrams, and technical decision records.

• Architect and guide the responsible integration of AI-enabled capabilities into Business Process applications, including model and LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), inference services, workflow orchestration, evaluation, monitoring, and appropriate security controls.

• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on CI/CD, observability, incident readiness, and AWS-hosted application operations.

• Mentor developers and provide technical leadership through influence; this role does not have direct reports.

Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

• Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) tools to optimize workflows, problem-solving, and productivity.

• Advanced knowledge of Java and enterprise application development, including the ability to guide design and implementation decisions across a development team.

• Advanced experience designing or modernizing workflow-driven, rules-driven, transaction-processing, or other complex Business Process applications.

• Advanced knowledge of relational database design, SQL, data integrity controls, and performance optimization; Oracle experience is preferred.

• Intermediate to advanced experience with AWS-hosted applications and cloud operational practices, including security, monitoring, resiliency, and cost-aware design.

• Intermediate experience with distributed systems concepts, including scalability, fault tolerance, observability, and recovery from failures.

• Intermediate experience with CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate architecture decisions clearly to engineers, product partners, and non-technical stakeholders.

• Hands-on experience designing or integrating AI-enabled capabilities in enterprise applications, including model or LLM integration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), inference services, prompt and evaluation design, and AI application security controls.

• Working knowledge of practical AI engineering tools and patterns, such as LLM application frameworks, vector search or retrieval, model evaluation and monitoring, and responsible AI guardrails.

\n$170,000 - $215,000 a year

\nThis position is a hybrid role where the employee must work two full days per week in our office in Arlington, Virginia. For the first 90 days, the employee must work three full days per week in the office.
