We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, ATCS to join the team with Nexus, a teammate company!

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall project – communicating the scope, schedule, and budget of the project; planning, organizing, and controlling the project; and communicating to internal and external stakeholders. More specific duties include:

• Formulate the project, based on customer direction, as described in EA-023.

• Clearly define the project scope.

• Be able to clearly define and explain the threats, costs, and resources of the project and track them along with schedule.

• Communicating issues and negotiating process and product agreements with the program, prime contractors, the Engineering Directorate, and relevant Technical Authorities.

• Defining the key milestone, schedule, and budget constraints for the team.

• Providing the team with a vision of the project objectives.

• Working with leaders in Identifying the resource needs, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring team personnel understand their roles and responsibilities.

• Develop a project plan, document the plan, and obtain approvals from engineering management and appropriate supporting organizations. Break the project into discrete tasks.

• Develop and continuously maintain a schedule to define project work activities, track progress, allocate resources, and identify constraints.

• Tracking project deliverables.

• Assign tasks to the project team members according to the project plan and schedule.

• Create and managing the project documents to monitor project performance and data.

• Maintain and update the project scope of work, financial plan, goals, and deliverables throughout the project life-cycle in response to program decisions.

• Reviewing and approving cost, schedule, or technical risk changes within the project; prepare decision packages to request budget, scope, or schedule changes from the program customer.

• Manage the operational, financial, and technological aspects of projects based on timelines and work plans.

• Directing, supporting, and coordinating the project team.

• Manage the project documents to monitor project performance and data.

• Resolve, tracing, and escalating critical issues to minimize project risk factors.

• Communicating intensively with customers, stakeholders, and contractors.

• Report on project progress and communicating relevant information to customers, other stakeholders, and management.

• Approve the certification plan and perform the provisional acceptance and final acceptance of the deliverables.

• Coordinate the lessons-learned process.

• Mentor less experienced project staff.

• Review hazard analyses and risk assessments for test activities (as required).

• Perform other duties as required.

• Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience

• Experience managing and leading engineering projects

• Experience with financial reporting, including budgeting, forecasting and cost estimating

• Excellent oral and written communication skills and will be expected to effectively interact with customers and management at all levels

• Ability to coordinate support from a wide range of technical disciplines

• Ability to work independently and autonomously and track tasks and issues to completion

• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, environmental testing, and office software

Requisition Preferences:

• BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of fourteen (14) years of direct engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and twelve (12) years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degrees and nine (9) years direct engineering experience

• Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
