Product Manager – Door Hardware
Position Summary
The Product Manager, Door Hardware owns the strategy, development, and performance of the Own Brand door hardware category! This role drives portfolio optimization and competitive positioning and execution of a segmented product roadmap across core, mid-range, and premium tiers.
As the technical and commercial leader for the category, this individual ensures strong cross-functional alignment across Product Development, Sourcing, Category Management, and Customer Groups.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy & Lifecycle Management
- Define and implement product strategy aligned to business goals and evolving market opportunities
- Manage full product lifecycle including new product development (NPD), enhancements, and sunsetting
- Evaluate SKU productivity, margin performance, quality trends, and lifecycle status across the portfolio
- Identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for consolidation or expansion
- Ensure alignment with the intentional product strategies, pricing architecture, and channel requirements
- Lead Stage Gate process detailing KPIs, financial forecasts, investment requirements, and commercialization strategy
Competitive Landscape & Market Positioning
- Develop and maintain robust competitive analysis across national brands, retailer private labels, and online/DTC competitors
- Benchmark features, quality, price positioning, packaging, and innovation
- Identify the good-better-best gaps and develop differentiation strategies
- Translate competitive insights into product requirements, feature targets, and cost goals
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of markets, channels, customer needs, and industry trends
Product Roadmap & Segmentation
- Build and implement a multi-year product roadmap
- Define platform strategies, feature sets, and cost targets for each segment
- Partner with Sourcing to ensure scalability and cost competitiveness
- Drive NPD from concept through commercialization
Technical Leadership & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for door hardware systems
- Define product specifications, performance standards, and design requirements
- Support supplier development and capability alignment to product expectations
- Inspire, influence, and align cross-functional partners toward shared goals without direct authority
- Ensure customer experience is embedded in all product decisions
Commercialization
- Develop competitive selling tools, training materials, and go-to-market strategies
- Contribute to packaging and merchandising strategies
- Communicate product strategy, performance updates, and priorities clearly to all organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or an equivalent
- 5–10+ years in product management, engineering, or equivalent
- Direct experience in door hardware category required
- Strong technical understanding of door hardware category
- Proven ability to develop and implement product roadmaps across multiple price tiers
- Strong financial and cost modeling savvy; ability to translate data into actionable opportunities
- Proven ability to translate complex customer needs into organized business cases and roadmaps
- Cross-functional leadership and the ability to influence without direct authority
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Strategic planning mindset with a track record of driving profitable business growth
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, integrate, and implement new solutions

Pay Range:

$6,374.70 - $13,933.70-
Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
