The Data Analyst supports CFA Institute’s Enterprise Data Analytics team by cleaning, preparing, and documenting structured datasets, and by building foundational visualizations, dashboards, and reports. Working under the guidance of the Director, Enterprise Data Analytics, the Data Analyst applies established methods and standard tools, such as Excel, SQL, and Python, to deliver accurate and timely analyses that support business decisions across the organization. The Data Analyst executes predefined data analysis tasks, runs statistical analyses, and conducts quality assurance on reports and data pipelines. The role investigates known data issues using standard troubleshooting steps.
This position is eligible for remote work within select approved U.S. locations. Candidates must reside in one of the locations identified in the job posting.
What You’ll Do
- Clean, prepare, and document structured datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability for downstream analysis
- Build simple visualizations and dashboards using standard tools such as Excel, SQL, and Python
- Run basic statistical analyses under close supervision, applying foundational knowledge of statistics and data wrangling
- Execute predefined analytic tasks and templates, following established methods and processes
- Conduct quality assurance on reports and data pipelines to identify and correct errors before publication
- Investigate known data issues and follow standard troubleshooting steps; escalate novel or ambiguous questions to senior team members
- Contribute to the preparation of recurring data and analytics reports for internal stakeholders
- Support colleagues’ use of data management and reporting systems by answering routine questions and directing them to documentation
- Develop foundational data analysis skills and business knowledge through ongoing training, coaching, and hands-on project work
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, computer science, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Professional experience in data analysis, reporting, or a related analytical role
- Foundational knowledge of statistics, data wrangling, and visualization using tools such as Excel, SQL, and Python
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data preparation and reporting
- Ability to follow established methods and processes, while recognizing when to escalate novel or ambiguous issues
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to internal stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assigned tasks under close supervision
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Co-Pilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor
At CFA Institute, we are committed to transparency and equity throughout our hiring process. In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, we are providing the anticipated base salary range for this position: $70,000–$100,000 per year.
The actual base salary offered will be determined based on relevant factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, qualifications, and geographic location.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual incentive bonus, a 12% employer contribution to a 401(k) plan, and a comprehensive medical benefits package.
