Senior Backend Engineer with DevOps experience

This is a remote position.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of core services supporting a modern enterprise platform.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services while helping drive cloud-native development practices and operational excellence. You will work across application development, system integration, and deployment environments, collaborating closely with engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions.

The role combines backend software engineering, distributed systems expertise, and DevOps practices, with a strong focus on Java, microservices, cloud-native technologies, and modern deployment platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs

• Build and evolve microservice-based applications using modern Java frameworks

• Develop and optimize integrations with databases, messaging platforms, and enterprise services

• Contribute to the design and implementation of distributed and event-driven architectures

• Support CI/CD processes and application deployments across multiple environments

• Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure code quality, scalability, and maintainability

• Troubleshoot application and deployment issues across development, testing, and production environments

• Promote software engineering best practices, including:

• Clean code

• Automated testing

• Continuous integration

• Continuous delivery

• Contribute to platform reliability and operational improvements through DevOps practices

Requirements

• Strong experience with:

• Java

• Spring Boot and/or Quarkus

• Proven experience designing and developing:

• REST APIs

• Microservice architectures

• Solid knowledge of:

• SQL

• Relational database concepts

• Hands-on experience with:

• PostgreSQL or similar relational databases

• Strong understanding of:

• Software architecture

• Clean code principles

• Automated testing

• Practical experience with:

• CI/CD pipelines

• Containerization technologies

• Kubernetes

• Experience troubleshooting applications across development and deployment environments

• Knowledge of distributed systems and asynchronous communication patterns

• Understanding of:

• Event-driven architectures

• Messaging technologies such as Kafka or similar platforms

• Ability to work autonomously in collaborative environments

• Fluency in English

• Experience with:

• GitLab CI

• Knowledge of authentication and authorization concepts:

• OAuth 2.0

• OpenID Connect (OIDC)

• JWT

• Experience working in cloud-native environments

• Familiarity with infrastructure and deployment automation practices
