About the role:

You will support the development, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms and infrastructure services. The role is designed to build foundational capability in platform engineering, including cloud technologies, automation, infrastructure as code, and operational support.

Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will contribute to standardising infrastructure delivery, improving service reliability, and enhancing operational efficiency across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Platform support and engineering: Assist in the architecture, build, configuration, and maintenance of customer platforms and infrastructure services. Support the operation of cloud, virtualised, and on-premises environments. Contribute to platform improvements through standardisation and automation initiatives
  • Automation and infrastructure as code: Support development of automation scripts and tooling to reduce manual intervention. Assist with infrastructure-as-code implementations to ensure repeatable and consistent deployments. Contribute to configuration management and deployment processes
  • Monitoring and operational reliability: Assist in maintaining monitoring and alerting systems to improve service visibility. Support incident management and resolution activities under supervision. Contribute to improving platform resilience and reducing service disruption
  • Documentation and standards: Assist with the development of and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures. Support adherence to engineering standards, governance, and best practices. Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Collaboration: Work with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support service delivery. Participate in team activities, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives. Engage with internal stakeholders to understand service requirements and operational challenges

Required skills:

  • Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, or cloud computing concepts
  • Demonstrated interest in automation, scripting, or software-driven infrastructure
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a structured team environment

Desirable experience:

  • Awareness of cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
  • Exposure to scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python, Bash, C#)
  • Basic understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, or version control systems
  • Familiarity with monitoring or logging concepts

Entry requirements:

  • A Level in STEM subject, or
  • BTEC Diploma in STEM subject, or
  • Level 3 IT apprenticeship

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
