 Job Purpose

 In the role of Network Administrator, your primary duty will be to support both head office and branch operations, ensuring strict alignment with the IT department's frameworks and policies. You will manage escalated networking and infrastructure tickets, address specialized solution requests, and oversee system administration, setup scopes, and network infrastructure maintenance. This is a vital position that directly impacts the consistency and efficiency of daily business operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Network  administration and support

 

  • Oversee the comprehensive maintenance and technical support of organizational computing systems. This includes identifying and resolving complex issues, configuring hardware and software components, and the seamless integration and customization of innovative tools and configurations.
  • Execute the deployment and ongoing upkeep of the network infrastructure while managing the administrative environment, encompassing critical hardware such as firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Direct the deployment and enhancement of system architectures. This involves executing installations and necessary upgrades while performing continuous assessments of the organizational computing environment to ensure hardware and software alignment with corporate requirements and implementing modifications accordingly.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical assistance and ongoing upkeep for administrative hardware, including printers, scanning devices, and associated peripheral equipment.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical assistance and upkeep for the localized call center architecture, ensuring seamless integration and efficient resolution of complex system solution issues.
  • Execute the deployment and ongoing management of network infrastructure security protocols and endpoint protection measures.
  • Direct the systematic review of firewall security analytics and implement necessary remediation for identified vulnerabilities; promptly escalate critical or multifaceted threats to the group security division for in-depth investigation.
  • Direct the compilation and systematic approval of all architectural and network configuration documentation, ensuring alignment with managerial standards.
  • Execute the daily oversight of infrastructure operations to guarantee maximum reliability and service continuity with negligible operational downtime.
  • Conduct rigorous periodic audits of administrative permissions and system throughput to optimize the integrity of the organizational computing environment.
  • Collaborate with corporate stakeholders on strategic project lifecycles, encompassing financial planning, resource allocation, and comprehensive progress reporting.
  • Direct the identification and integration of innovative technological solutions to address evolving departmental requirements and process optimizations.
  • Draft and present comprehensive analytical summaries regarding infrastructure health and the remediation of complex system incidents.
  • Foster synergistic partnerships with leadership and external vendors to facilitate the achievement of defined institutional objectives.
  • Direct the management of localized data center architectures, wide area networks, and comprehensive security protocols for third-party integrations.
  • Execute systematic vendor performance assessments and provide strategic counsel to leadership regarding ongoing service provider engagements.

  • Must ensure strict adherence to all organizational and IT department regulatory frameworks and internal policies.
  • Drafting and presenting comprehensive internal analytical reports to the management team.
  • Execution of additional tasks and responsibilities as designated by the departmental leadership.

 Key performance indicators  

  • To maintain a 100% response rate for all assigned Network/ tickets within the average SLA timeframe.
  • To resolve 95% of assigned network and infrastructure tickets within the average SLA timeframe
  • Ensure 100% of network and infrastructure incidents are investigated and reported within 3 working days.
  • Train, coach, and oversee the IT Network Administrator Officer to ensure that the required performance standards are met.
  • Maintain a 99.9% uptime rate for Watu's network and infrastructure.

 Qualifications

Education level:

Possess a Bachelor's qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, complemented by professional certifications.  

Experience:  

At least 5 years of professional IT background.

Minimum 5-year track record serving as a network or system engineer or in a related administrative capacity.

Technical skills:

  • Competence in maintaining hardware and resolving technical difficulties and Microsoft-related issues.
  • Practical background in infrastructure management and configuration, including maintenance and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Expertise in network cabling plus the installation and assembly of vital equipment like server racks and switches.
  • In-depth familiarity with products from major networking vendors such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, or Mikrotik.
  • High-level grasp of networking concepts, particularly Cloud architectures, large VPNs, and Data Center operations.
  • Adept at utilizing Google Workspace for data analysis and the enhancement of workflow efficiency.
  • Proven experience managing Active Directory, virtual machine environments, and both Linux and MS Servers.
  • Capability to implement and operate sophisticated monitoring solutions like Grafana, Zabbix, or Wireshark.
  • Knowledge of professional IT protocols, data protection, and firewalls including Sophos and Fortinet.
  • Familiarity with collaborative project platforms like Spiceworks, Gitlab, or Jira is considered a plus.
