Consolidated Asset Management Services (CAMS), a leader in project, asset management, commercial, and operational services for the power generation, E&P, and midstream energy sectors, seeks an Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Engineering Intern in Houston, TX. This role focuses on monitoring and diagnosing equipment performance using predictive analytics software, conducting advanced condition monitoring, and supporting thermal performance analysis for critical power generation systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Utilize Predictive Analytics Advanced Pattern Recognition (APR) software to assess plant equipment conditions and triage issues, recommending actions to appropriate plant contacts.
- Develop, tune, and implement APR models in Prometheus APM software to monitor equipment performance and predict component health.
- Alert corporate SMEs and station personnel to anomalies impacting equipment reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to track and monitor thermal performance of power generation systems.
- Analyze data, create advanced visualizations, and articulate findings to influence business decisions and quantify avoided costs.
- Work with reliability analysts/engineers to enhance decision-making processes and incorporate decision quality.
- Collaborate with business leaders to resolve ambiguous problems and drive clarity in decision-making.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive end-of-summer presentation to the CEO and leadership team, summarizing key projects, insights, and actionable recommendations based on internship work.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Enrolled in an accredited BS/MS program in Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, or a related field.
- GPA: Minimum 3.0 GPA (3.5 or higher preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in data engineering, analysis, and creating advanced visualizations with large datasets.
- Working knowledge of advanced pattern recognition, thermal performance, or condition-based predictive diagnosis software (e.g., Prometheus APM).
- Familiarity with rotating components (pumps, motors, steam turbines, generators) and field instrumentation.
- Understanding of engineering designs, principles, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database systems.
Soft Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proactive multitasker capable of prioritizing and managing tight deadlines.
- Ability to independently resolve ambiguity and drive business results.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and effective relationship-building abilities.
