Software Engineer | Mid-Office | Python

BlockTech is hiring a Software Engineer to join its Mid-Office team in Amsterdam.

Positions, PnL, and hedging all run through Mid-Office. When a number our traders or risk team rely on is wrong, this is where it gets found and fixed.

In this role, you'll build and run that platform, and you'll be the one who follows a wrong number until you know why.

About BlockTech

BlockTech is an algorithmic trading firm headquartered in Amsterdam, with a second office in Singapore. We specialize in market making and trade cryptocurrency derivatives and spot markets globally, using our own capital. We're growing fast and expanding into new markets.

The Mid-Office team owns the systems that keep positions, PnL, and hedging correct across every venue we trade. We work in Python, with Grafana and PostgreSQL alongside.

What will you do?

You will build and own the systems that keep our books and data accurate, including the quantitative work behind them. You'll be responsible for spotting discrepancies, investigating unexpected numbers, and tracing issues to their root cause.

You will:

• Own the books. Maintain and evolve our position, trade, and PnL systems so they stay accurate across every venue.

• Do the quant work. Build and refine our hedging, Greeks, margin models, and early exercise premium calculations.

• Surface the risk. Build the risk views and calculations that show traders and the risk team what exposure we're carrying.

• Support the desk. Work side by side with traders and researchers, and make sure the data they rely on is correct and available.

• Deliver reporting. Provide the data internal stakeholders and regulators need: PnL breakdowns, trade surveillance, treasury accounting, and compliance.

• Own it in production. Spot discrepancies in live data, trace the root cause, and maintain what you ship.

What we're looking for

You'll need:

• You'll need to be an engineer at heart, with a strong quantitative background and a genuine passion for building and improving systems.

• A relevant educational background, ideally in a quantitative field such as mathematics, econometrics, or computer science.

• Professional experience with Python, Grafana, and PostgreSQL.

• Strong debugging skills. You can trace problems to their source, even in unfamiliar systems.

• A critical mind that follows problems through to completion, high ownership, and clear communication in English.

Bonus points for:

• Experience in finance, ideally trading, on the systems behind positions, PnL, risk, and hedging.

• Compensation: a competitive base salary plus a performance bonus based on individual and company results.

• Location: On-site at our Amsterdam office

• Visa: BlockTech sponsors the Dutch highly skilled migrant visa.
