Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Designer based in United States.

This is a senior design leadership role focused on creating alignment, consistency, and scale across products, teams, and strategic initiatives. You will operate at the intersection of product design, strategy, systems thinking, organizational leadership, and business impact. Rather than relying on formal people management, you will influence teams and senior leaders through strong design expertise, strategic thinking, and collaboration. You will lead complex initiatives spanning multiple products, customer journeys, and business domains while identifying opportunities to improve the overall customer experience. The role will also shape design systems, standards, reusable frameworks, and scalable experience patterns that improve quality and efficiency. You will act as a trusted advisor to product and business leadership while mentoring senior designers and helping elevate design maturity across the organization. Your work will have broad organizational impact, influencing product portfolio decisions, cross-product experiences, and the evolution of design practices.

Accountabilities

  • Lead large-scale design initiatives that span multiple products, customer journeys, teams, or business domains, ensuring a cohesive and high-quality customer experience.
  • Drive strategic alignment across teams by establishing clear customer experience priorities, design principles, and shared approaches to complex product challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to improve experiences across the broader product ecosystem and translate those opportunities into scalable design strategies and solutions.
  • Establish and promote design best practices that improve consistency, efficiency, quality, and collaboration across the organization.
  • Lead the evolution and governance of design systems, standards, interaction patterns, and reusable frameworks that support scalable product development.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure design systems and standards are implemented effectively and adopted consistently across products.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to product and business leaders, using design expertise and customer-centered thinking to inform organizational and product decisions.
  • Influence decision-making across multiple teams and functions, helping teams navigate complex design and product trade-offs.
  • Mentor senior designers and contribute to the development of a stronger, more mature design practice across the organization.
  • Champion accessibility, inclusive design, and customer-centered thinking throughout product development and strategic decision-making.
  • Own multiple product areas, cross-product initiatives, design standards, best practices, and the continued evolution of design systems.
  • Influence multiple teams, directors, senior leaders, and broader product portfolio decisions through strategic design leadership and organizational influence.

Requirements

  • Have 8+ years of professional experience designing complex digital products, demonstrating sustained growth in design scope and strategic impact.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree or possess equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to lead strategic design initiatives across multiple teams, products, business domains, or customer journeys.
  • Maintain a strong portfolio that demonstrates systems thinking, complex problem-solving, scalable design approaches, and measurable organizational impact.
  • Bring strong expertise in design systems, service design, interaction design, and scalable experience frameworks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish reusable design patterns, frameworks, and standards that can be adopted across multiple product areas.
  • Have a strong understanding of how design systems and standards can improve consistency, efficiency, quality, and collaboration between design and engineering teams.
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence senior leadership and contribute meaningfully to organizational and product portfolio decisions without relying on formal authority.
  • Possess strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to connect customer needs, design decisions, product priorities, and broader business objectives.
  • Be an effective cross-functional collaborator who can build alignment among designers, product managers, engineers, business leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide senior designers and influence teams through complex decisions.
  • Bring a customer-centered mindset and a strong commitment to accessibility, inclusive design, and high-quality digital experiences.
