General Mills’ Digital & Technology function leads enterprise-wide digital transformation by combining business partnership, innovation, and modern technology. The team works across global business priorities to build scalable, high-impact solutions using advanced digital and data capabilities. Purpose of the Role 

This role advances modern Business Intelligence and AI for BI capabilities across General Mills business functions. 

It partners with business, product, and technical teams to design, build, and scale trusted, governed, and user-friendly analytics solutions. The role focuses on enabling reporting, visualization, conversational analytics, and AI-driven insights with strong adoption, quality, and governance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Design, develop, test, automate, and launch BI, conversational analytics, and AI-driven summarization solutions using Tableau, Looker, BigQuery, and related tools.
  • Build technical architectures, semantic models, prototypes, and governed data experiences for trusted natural-language querying, dashboard summarization, and scalable decision support.
  • Lead design, code, model, and process reviews to ensure compliance with enterprise standards, AI governance, approved extensions, and performance best practices.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery across discovery, requirements gathering, estimation, solution design, development, UAT, deployment, and post-go-live monitoring.
  • Define business terms, metadata, reference questions, and testing assets to improve the accuracy, trust, and repeatability of AI-enabled BI outputs.
  • Partner with technical teams to optimize data models, granularity, labels, and performance, with a focus on scalable star-schema-based designs.
  • Establish validation processes including training sets, golden queries, user testing, and accuracy thresholds to support production-ready AI for BI capabilities.
  • Translate business needs into governed BI, NLQ, and AI summarization use cases with clear success measures and business value.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, BI leadership, and governance groups to shape requirements, prioritize initiatives, and recommend best practices.
  • Lead workshops, pilot testing, feedback loops, issue triage, and continuous improvement efforts to strengthen usability, trust, adoption, and solution quality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (full time) in Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of total experience with 6+ years of relevant experience designing and delivering BI and analytics solutions for business stakeholders.
  • Expert-level skills in Tableau, SQL, Google Looker, Python, and BigQuery.
  • Demonstrated experience building governed analytics products, semantic models, and scalable reporting solutions that support self-service analytics and decision-making.
  • Experience with AI for BI use cases such as natural language query, conversational analytics, or AI-driven summarization, including testing, validation, and monitoring practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requests into technical requirements and explain trade-offs across tools, data models, governance, and architecture options.
  • Strong knowledge of dimensional modelling, metadata management, data governance, data warehousing, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and to partner effectively with business leaders, technical teams, and governance stakeholders to deliver high-value solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thought-driven leadership to successfully deliver scalable team management and business solutions.
  • Knowledge of at least one other programming language such as Python is a plus.
