ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES | THE WHAT & THE HOW
The Essentials
- Software Development
- Independently develop, test, enhance, and maintain iOS applications and solutions to a high standard, taking ownership of features and modules from design through to release.
- Technical Design
- Contribute to the design of scalable and efficient software architecture alongside senior engineers, and make sound design decisions within your areas of ownership.
- Build and implement new features while maintaining and enhancing the existing functionality of iOS apps.
- Integrate RESTful APIs and work closely with the backend team to ensure seamless communication between the app and server.
- Code Reviews
- Conduct and participate in code reviews, upholding code quality, performance, and adherence to coding standards, and helping to raise the bar across the team.
- Troubleshooting and Debugging
- Independently troubleshoot, identify, and resolve complex issues related to app performance, bugs, and compatibility across different devices.
- Documentation
- Create and maintain technical documentation including design documents, specifications, and user manuals.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and quality assurance engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, and contribute to process improvements and innovation initiatives within the organisation.
- Project Management
- Own the delivery of your features and tasks end-to-end — managing timelines effectively and proactively communicating progress, risks, and challenges to stakeholders.
- Mentoring
- Support and mentor junior developers, sharing knowledge and guiding them on best practices, coding standards, and problem-solving.
Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or provable, self-taught development skills with a good understanding of how systems work.
- 4 - 6 years of work experience developing iOS applications, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality apps to the App Store.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and Objective-C programming languages.
- Deep knowledge of the iOS SDK, Xcode, and Apple’s design principles and Human Interface Guidelines.
- Solid experience with modern iOS development, including SwiftUI, Combine, and Swift Concurrency (async/await).
- Strong experience integrating RESTful APIs into mobile applications, including authentication flows and handling different network states.
- Strong understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Experience with popular iOS frameworks like Core Data, Core Animation, Core Location, etc.
- Experience with performance optimisation, memory management, and debugging iOS applications.
- Experience with automated testing, continuous integration (CI/CD), and deployment tooling for iOS applications.
- Experience with app deployment to the Apple App Store and managing releases.
- Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, VIPER) and design principles (SOLID, DRY).
- Having experience working within a high-growth tech startup is advantageous.
- Have brilliant problem-solving abilities that take product design, process, and technical aspects into account.
- Have the ability to clearly articulate solutions for a technical and non-technical audience.
