Role Purpose

LevelTen Energy’s mission is to accelerate the energy transition by facilitating frictionless transactions. As the leading provider of renewable transaction infrastructure, we deliver the cloud-based software, centralized supply, automated analytics, and transaction expertise required to power the renewable energy economy. The LevelTen Platform is the world’s largest online hub for renewable energy buyers, sellers, advisors, asset owners and financiers, and delivers the online tools and expertise they need to buy, sell and finance assets quickly.

Join us on a mission that matters.

LevelTen Energy is looking for a hands-on AI Platform Lead to serve as our internal AI expert and the driving force behind how we build, secure, and scale AI across the organization. This is a technical individual contributor role — you will roll up your sleeves to build agentic workflows, implement AI governance and security best practices, train our teams on the Claude ecosystem, and identify high-impact use cases across all departments. You'll sit within IT but operate largely independently, serving as the person employees, department heads, and the IT team itself turn to for AI guidance, troubleshooting, and capability building. If you can talk about AI but can't build with it, this role isn't the right fit.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • AI Building & Automation: Build, deploy, and maintain agentic workflows, AI automations, and lightweight integrations across the Claude ecosystem. Prototype solutions for teams, troubleshoot when things break, and serve as the go-to resource when employees hit a wall with AI tooling. Work with APIs, MCP servers, prompt engineering, and connected platforms — and know when something needs IT or Infrastructure involvement and how to hand it off cleanly.
  • AI Security & Governance: Serve as the AI security resource within IT — advising on best practices, implementing governance frameworks, and ensuring AI adoption at LevelTen stays secure and compliant. This includes data classification guidance, access controls, audit logging for AI usage, shadow IT risk mitigation, and vendor security reviews for new AI tools. You'll be the person IT and Security lean on when AI-specific security questions arise, operating within our ISO 27001 and SOC 2 environment.
  • Enablement & Uplift: Work directly with employees and teams through one-on-ones, small group workshops, and hands-on build sessions to help non-technical staff get more out of Claude. The goal isn't awareness — it's capability. You're helping people build automations, use advanced features, and work more effectively with AI in their specific role.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with department heads to identify workflows where AI can drive efficiency, reduce manual work, or unlock new capabilities. Translate what you learn into solutions you can actually build and deploy alongside the team.
  • Process Building & Metrics: Build the intake process, adoption metrics, and feedback loops that don't exist yet. Design these from scratch with the freedom to make them work for LevelTen's culture and scale. Track what's working, surface what isn't, and use that data to continuously improve how the company uses AI.
  • Market Research: Stay current on the AI landscape — not just the hype, but what's actually relevant to LevelTen. Evaluate new tools against our security and compliance standards before they reach employees, and bring back practical recommendations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical experience in a hands-on role — AI development, technical product management, systems engineering, or similar — with at least 2 years of direct AI building experience as an individual contributor. You've owned and built things yourself, not managed a team to do it for you.
  • Deep Claude Ecosystem Fluency: You know what Skills, Artifacts, Projects, Cowork, and MCP are and have used them in practice. You've built agents and workflows in Claude, not just prompted it. If we ask you to demo something in the interview, you can pull it up.
  • Proven AI Builder: You have something to show for it — a workflow, an agent, an integration, a tool. You're comfortable working with APIs, prompt engineering, and lightweight integrations without needing engineering support for every step.
  • AI Security Awareness: You understand the security implications of AI adoption — data flows, prompt injection risks, model data retention policies, shadow IT — and you're comfortable serving as the AI security resource alongside an IT and InfoSec team. Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, or NIST frameworks is a plus.
  • Self-Directed: You don't need to be told what to build or how to prioritize. You identify the gaps, design the solution, and execute — escalating cleanly when something requires access or infrastructure outside your scope.
  • Strong Communicator: You can explain a multi-agent architecture to an engineer and explain why AI matters to someone in HR — and you know those are two completely different conversations. One-on-ones, small group sessions, and hands-on build workshops are all in your comfort zone.
  • Collaborative and Empathetic: You meet people where they are. Helping a non-technical employee build their first automation requires as much patience and communication skill as building the underlying infrastructure — and you bring both.
  • IC-Oriented: You're energized by building and enabling, not managing people. You measure success by what gets built, what gets adopted, and how much AI capability you've added to the organization.
  • Self-Driven Practitioner: You experiment with AI on your own time because you're genuinely curious, not because it's on your performance review. You stay current and bring what you learn back to the team in practical, applicable ways.
