Position Overview:
Finning Canada is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Financial Reporting Analyst to support business decision-making through insightful financial analysis, reporting, forecasting, and planning. In this role, you will partner closely with business leaders and finance teams to deliver accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information that drives performance, provides data to support planning activities, and supports strategic objectives.
You will play a key role in the monthly and quarterly close process and cyclical planning processes providing executive level and operational level analytics and KPI's, completion of processes to analyze financial and operational results, develop financial models and executive-level reports, and provide data-driven insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. The successful candidate will also contribute to cash reporting and forecasting, process improvements, and automation initiatives while leveraging financial systems expertise to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities.
This position requires strong collaboration across the organization, combining financial acumen, analytical thinking, and a continuous improvement mindset to support Finning's business goals.
Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
- Develop and sustain reporting and analytics relating specifically to Accounts Receivable, Collections, and Collections effectiveness including trends, DSO, and bad debt reporting and trends. Includes development, calculation, and sustainment of KPI's, operational and executive level reports, and quarterly calculation of AFDA.
- Support sustainment of financial data governance initiatives and sustainment activities including responsibility reporting, training, and configuration of new capabilities to support the organization through changing business needs and structures.
- Manage and participate in projects by providing analytical support, subject matter expertise and reporting services, supporting execution of business and finance initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments across the organization to ensure strategic objectives and business initiatives are successfully achieved.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation through data-driven insights, process optimization, and automation opportunities.
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive financial, business, and organizational information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Accounting/Finance
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or equivalent finance/accounting designation
- At least 4-6 years of experience in an analytical role in Finance or Accounting, with experience in credit and collections, banking, or data analytics
- Relevant experience with financial analysis, financial modelling, profitability analysis, forecasting and budgeting, strategic planning
- Advanced Excel skills including ability to use lookups, pivot tables, power query, power pivot, indirect formulas, and sum-ifs.
- Knowledge of Financial cycle – income statement, balance sheet, cash cycle and solid foundation with general accounting standards/IFRS
- Demonstrated understanding of the link between analysis and business impact; ability to identify and integrate drivers for financial modeling
- Systems experience including MS Office - Power Query, Power BI, Power Pivot, M3 Lawson / Infor, High-Radius, SAP BPC, SAP AFO or other related ERP and collections software is considered a strong asset.
