As a Digital Solutions Engineer – Operational Applications, you will design, develop, and maintain intuitive digital applications that empower operators, engineers, technicians, supervisors, and manufacturing leaders with real-time access to information, workflows, and intelligent decision support.
Your solutions will extend enterprise capabilities beyond traditional desktop applications by delivering secure, connected, and user-centric operational experiences across mobile devices, tablets, industrial workstations, and other frontline technologies.
Working closely with Application Experience Engineers, Platform Engineers, Data Engineers, AI & Data Scientists, Smart Factory Engineers, and business stakeholders, you will build applications that simplify operational processes, improve workforce productivity, and accelerate Agilent's digital transformation.

About the Role
Operational excellence depends on providing the right information to the right people at the right time.
As a Digital Solutions Engineer – Operational Applications, you will develop applications that connect frontline employees with enterprise systems, operational data, and intelligent services. Whether supporting manufacturing execution, quality inspections, maintenance activities, warehouse operations, engineering workflows, or operational approvals, your applications will help simplify work and improve decision-making across Agilent's manufacturing network.
You'll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to build secure, scalable, and intuitive operational applications that integrate seamlessly with enterprise platforms, AI capabilities, and Smart Factory technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Application Development
- Design, develop, and maintain modern operational applications that support manufacturing, quality, supply chain, engineering, warehouse, logistics, and operational workflows.
- Build intuitive applications that improve productivity, simplify frontline activities, and enhance user experience.
- Develop reusable application components that accelerate delivery across multiple operational solutions.
- Ensure applications are responsive, secure, accessible, and optimized for operational environments.
Workforce Productivity Solutions
- Develop digital work instructions, operational checklists, inspection applications, maintenance workflows, inventory transactions, approvals, and task management solutions.
- Deliver intuitive user experiences that reduce manual effort and improve operational consistency.
- Support offline capabilities and reliable synchronization where network connectivity may be limited.
- Design solutions that enable users to complete operational tasks efficiently across various devices.
Enterprise Integration
- Integrate operational applications with enterprise platforms including SAP, MES, enterprise data platforms, AI services, and backend APIs.
- Collaborate with Platform Engineers to consume secure enterprise services.
- Work with Data Engineers to deliver trusted operational information.
- Embed AI-powered capabilities such as intelligent recommendations, conversational assistants, and contextual insights into operational workflows.
User Experience & Adoption
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand operational challenges and user needs.
- Design simple, intuitive workflows that improve adoption and reduce training effort.
- Continuously enhance application usability through user feedback and iterative improvements.
- Promote consistent user experience across operational applications.
Innovation & Emerging Technologies
- Evaluate emerging technologies that improve operational productivity, including enterprise mobility, wearable devices, barcode and QR technologies, camera integration, voice interaction, and AI-assisted user experiences.
- Prototype innovative digital capabilities that enhance frontline operations and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to Agilent's long-term Operational Applications strategy by identifying opportunities to simplify work through technology.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and Operational Excellence teams to understand operational requirements and deliver practical digital solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Application Experience Engineers, Platform Engineers, Smart Factory Engineers, Data Engineers, and AI specialists to develop integrated enterprise applications.
- Participate in Agile development, architecture discussions, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Passion for building digital solutions that improve operational efficiency and user productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is advantageous:
- Flutter, React Native, .NET MAUI, or other cross-platform development frameworks.
- Enterprise mobility and offline-first application development.
