Research Financial Analyst II, Center for Clinical Research (Hybrid)

What You Will Do• Provides support and analysis to UH Academic and Research Mission

• Performs analysis of research funding, expenses, and revenue for UH clinical faculty.
• Assist Director of Grants Accounting and Strategic Initiatives in with all duties related to analysis of research infrastructure information
• Monitors and tracks all CWRU salary and non-salary cross charges and follows up with CWRU School of Medicine, CWRU central administration, and CWRU controller’s office to ensure timely payment of UH research invoices.
• Establishes strong working relationships with external parties including but not limited to federal, state, and local sponsors for grant funding and reporting purposes.
• Under the supervision of the Director of Grants Accounting and Strategic Initiatives, the incumbent assists in preparation of institutional grant proposal including budgets and other required documents.
• Keeps up to date knowledge of federal regulations, federal cost circulars including Uniform Guidance required in managing federal grant funding.
• Provides ongoing feedback to senior leadership about the research funding trends and federal policy change that can have impact on UH Academy and Research Mission.
• Reviews, understands, and follows the UH policy and procedures particularly related to research in performing grants management duties.
• Prepares reports/summaries in response to data requests made by sources that includes Director of Grants Accounting and Strategic Initiatives, Chief Scientific Officer, and senior leadership.
• Performs other special departmental projects as needed – review of grant expenditures, reconciliation of grant information, review of research space, and assignments involving research due diligence.
• Manage all research related procurement needs and function as a research buyer in collaboration with UH Corporate Supply Chain.
• Advise Senior Leadership in development of institutional grants as it relates to budgetary, sub-contractual, and risk assessment matters.
• Participate in monthly prioritization meetings with all researchers to better understand the UH Research direction.
• Oversee all post award subcontracts and follow the Federal Uniform Guidance policies for Subaward Monitoring.
• Collaborate with IRD to strategize and focus on the grant submission road map
• Manage and maintain the grant submission portfolio and focus on the status of each award and follow up with Federal and Non-Federal sponsors, as needed.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree preferably in accounting, business or health administration (Required)

Work Experience

• 3+ years of financial or equivalent experience (Required) and
• Experience with building grant proposals including budget, grant analysis and review (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Proven ability to understand the business directives of the Institute and communicate information in the context of supporting those directives (Required proficiency)
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (Required proficiency)
• Knowledge of federal regulations and cost circulars related to grants management (Required proficiency)
• Working knowledge of Oracle Software (Preferred proficiency)
• Ability to work independently but seek support when needed (Required proficiency)
• Detail-oriented and organized, with good analytical and problem solving ability. (Required proficiency)
• Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills (Required proficiency)
• Understanding of Federal Uniform Guidance, Grants.Gov, ProposalCentral and other grants submission Portals. (Required proficiency)
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (Required proficiency)
• Familiar with the Federal and non-Federal Grant process (Required proficiency)
• High Proficiency in Excel (Required proficiency)
