Business Analyst - Data Systems

About the Role

The Business Systems Analyst supports the organization’s data technology ecosystem by ensuring systems operate efficiently, reliably, and securely. This role is responsible for maintaining system performance, executing system changes, troubleshooting incidents, and optimizing workflows through data and automation tools. The Business Systems Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams to support upgrades, testing, and training while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain system uptime, data integrity, and overall performance.
  • Evaluate and execute new system implementations, enhancements, and upgrades to optimize usability and efficiency.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of system changes: planning, assessment, testing, deployment, validation, and documentation.
  • Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure business requirements are accurately understood, implemented, and supported.
  • Analyze data issues across integrated systems and work with technical teams to resolve root causes.
  • Diagnose, log, and resolve or escalate incidents; perform root cause analysis and propose long-term corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), FAQs, and configuration records.
  • Support and optimize business workflows using SQL queries, reporting tools, and process automation platforms.
  • Manage system access controls, roles, and permissions to ensure compliance and security.
  • Assist in user training and create training materials to promote system adoption and effective usage.
  • Collaborate with business users to identify areas for improvement and support digital transformation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in data systems analysis, system administration, or IT support.
  • Strong knowledge of D365 F&O front-end and back-end architecture.
  • Experience with AOT, Data Management Framework (DMF), data entities, and batch processing.
  • Ability to administer, monitor, and troubleshoot batch jobs and data integrations.
  • Proficiency with SQL, MS-SQL Server, BI reporting tools, and system workflow configuration.
  • Experience with access management, data validation, and system documentation.
  • Experience developing, deploying, and supporting ETL processes.
  • Experience supporting integrations among enterprise business applications.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration; self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise data systems (both on-prem and cloud) or other similar enterprise systems.
  • Experience supporting application upgrades, regression testing, and production support.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices for change, incident, and problem management.
  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience with automation platforms.
