Position Overview:
The successful Solutions Engineering Co-op thrives in data analysis, process development, communication, and ability to learn and understand complex technical designs in support of a nationwide network of distribution centers. This position is responsible for supporting continuous improvement projects and engineering solutions related to distribution center layouts, productivity analysis, pricing models, and optimization strategies within current and future operating environments.
Location: Atlanta, GA
Schedule: Day shift
Travel: 75% local travel
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel domestically to existing and new business locations.
- Aid and lead continuous improvement projects for existing sites.
- Creates workflow plans, conducts time studies, determine productivity metrics, and continually re-evaluates work processes for productivity improvements.
- Analyze existing processes and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Improve warehouse flow by optimizing storage strategies and zoning.
- Utilize customer data to complete analysis used for existing operations and perspective new business.
- Develop and integrate targeted solutions with customers and operations management.
- Select and work with outside vendors to complete capital projects.
- Perform return on investment (ROI) analysis to justify capital proposals.
- Aid, coordinate and potentially own RFP process for new and existing business customers through project life-cycle from design through implementation.
- Review and document business requirements from customer RFPs
- Assist with the review of functional statements, organizational charts, and project information to identify functions, responsibilities, and areas of duplication.
- Design and create warehouse layouts for new and existing facilities using AutoCAD.
- Analyzes storage solutions and material handling processes and recommends optimal strategies to maximize efficiency.
- Aid, coordinate, and potentially own determining the most effective means for the organization to use capital, equipment, energy, facilities, information, materials, people, and other assets to deliver products and services.
- Support the proposal of new automated warehousing solutions to increase productivity and improve throughput.
- Aid in the completion of pricing estimates for new business opportunities.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain major
- Must do 3 rotation co-op (no internships or limited co-op)
- Ability to work deadlines and to communicate with people with varying degrees of education and experience
- Responsible, independent, organized and professional
- Must have housing and transportation to/from office and local travel
Preferred Qualigications:
- Knowledge of time studies & MOST
- Basic understanding of layout optimization
- Exposure and knowledge of line balancing
- Familiarity with business level finances
