Position Summary (Purpose of job):  

 

The Infrastructure Engineering – Level 4 provides technical leadership in designing, implementing, and governing McKesson’s infrastructure systems across cloud and on-premises environments. This position takes ownership of complex infrastructure solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with enterprise standards. The role involves leading configuration for cloud platforms, developing APIs, and implementing governance for access control and cost optimization.  

Collaborating with engineering and cross-functional teams, the role drives best practices, supports DevOps initiatives, and mentors team members to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure solutions aligned with business objectives. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • Take ownership of designing and developing internal and external interface compatibility for systems and subsystems.  
  • Lead configuration for cloud platforms using appropriate tools to ensure scalability and reliability.  
  • Drive development of APIs to enable seamless integration and application development.  
  • Collaborate with engineering team members and take ownership of operational aspects of DevOps processes.  
  • Implement governance for role-based access control (RBAC), cost containment, and cloud account management.  
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and leverage best practices for physical and network security.  
  • Develop and maintain tools and frameworks that support application development across teams.  
  • Document infrastructure solutions and ensure adherence to architectural standards and reference architecture.  
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance infrastructure capabilities.  

 

 

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities): 

 

  • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure design and development, including internal and external interface compatibility for systems and subsystems.  
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet for infrastructure provisioning and orchestration.  
  • Strong expertise in cloud computing, virtualization, and configuration management for enterprise-scale environments.  
  • Deep understanding of container security and Kubernetes administration for secure and efficient containerized workloads.  
  • Working knowledge of edge computing and distributed infrastructure design for modern enterprise solutions.  
  • Expertise in network infrastructure security, network design, and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) for scalable and secure architectures.  
  • Experience with NetApp Storage and enterprise storage management solutions.  
  • Ability to implement governance for RBAC, cost optimization, and compliance across cloud and on-premises environments.  
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills to mentor team members and guide technical decisions. 

 

 

Business Experience: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 7+ years of progressive experience in infrastructure engineering or related technical fields.  
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale infrastructure solutions, including cloud platforms, automation frameworks, and network architecture.  
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries is a plus.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $121,100 - $201,800
