GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Senior Sustainability Data Analyst will contribute to key activities to support the development and execution of the bank’s sustainability strategy, including the sustainable communities initiatives. Responsible for developing reporting, analytics, metrics, and key performance indicators while also providing in-depth analysis and recommendations for improving/enhancing the bank’s sustainability performance. Focus on providing value-added analysis and recommendations to support key initiatives..  Responsible for developing reporting, analytics, metrics, and key performance indicators while also providing in-depth analysis and recommendations for improving/enhancing the bank’s sustainability performance. Focus on providing value-added analysis and recommendations to support key initiatives. Helps the team better understand all quantitative aspects of the business by delivering key insights through data visualization and analysis, covering a range of sustainability topics such as climate strategy, employee engagement, corporate governance -- amongst many others.

 

This position is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined.  Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensuring that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience.  While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, this position achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, monitoring, managing, and reporting risks of all types.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSBILITIES:

  • Successfully execute reporting and analytics. Analyzes data to make proactive recommendations / solutions to drive and enhance sustainability performance.
  • Write complex SQL queries against a variety of data sources and data lakes.
  • Build data visualizations to enable the business to more easily explore data.
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple departments to provide required analytics and insights needed to support the business needs.
  • Become an expert on sustainability data and work closely with engineering to improve the data models.
  • Develop models that explore our data that yield additional insights into the business.
  • Document, evaluate and improve design of reports and processes to ensure that analytical tools evolve as the business changes.
  • Develop trend analyses and other quantitative reports to determine business trends.
  • Partner with leaders to further analyze data and develop recommendations for improvement.
  • Understands and lead peers in the identification of key business factors (both internal and external) that impact the business.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base to keep current on existing and emerging issues; apply this knowledge to assist business managers in growing their business.
  • Develop recommendations and action plans to support growth and eliminate or mitigate observed risks.
  • Business Intelligence (i.e., key performance indicators, executive dashboards, reporting).
  • Develop analytical models to identify patterns in data.
  • Develop trend analyses and other quantitative reports to determine business trends.
  • Responsible for managing data sources that support incentive plan administration.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.  Business Administration, sustainability, computer science, mathematics, economics, physics, or other quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience: Typically requires three+ years of experience in a data analytics role or sustainability experience
  • Consumer lending, credit solutions and sustainable finance and banking experience preferred.
  • Community lending and finance with focus on renewable energy and resiliency-related banking solutions experience preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to review, analyze, gain insights, and present conclusions from complex qualitative Comprehensive understanding of sustainability metrics, reporting standards, and sustainability writing and reporting experience
  • Knowledge and experience with greenhouse gas accounting, CDP, TCFD, GRI, SASB, SBTi.
  • Advance Excel experience with the ability to manipulate data using formulas, pivot tables, macros, and modeling.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills; ability to present information succinctly and visually in PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivation and self-starter skills, proactive, and able to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across departments to achieve mutually beneficial results.
  • Exceptional analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather information quickly and to synthesize into actionable information
  • Ability to deliver results in a highly matrixed and changing environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Extended time at desk and/or viewing computer screens.
