JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on technical leader to join our Property Experience & Salesforce Engineering leadership team. The Director serves as the technical lead for one of Marriott’s largest Salesforce platforms, leading an engineering team responsible for the architecture, design, and delivery of scalable services and solutions. This role partners closely with Global Technology and business teams to deliver secure, resilient implementations. The Director drives complex Salesforce Service Cloud programs and enterprise integrations across the Marriott ecosystem, with a strong focus on privacy and security controls, platform performance, and reliability.

Required:

  • Over 5 years of experience in Salesforce development and support, with a proven track record overseeing the privacy, security, and performance of enterprise-scale, complex Salesforce platforms.
  • Deep expertise and certification in Salesforce administration and development, including security controls, standard objects, reporting and dashboards, Knowledge management, data governance, and sandbox environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, JSON) and enterprise integration concepts, used to guide solution design, integration strategy, and technical trade‑offs.
  • Advanced proficiency integrating Salesforce with cloud‑based services, including AWS‑hosted systems, APIs, and event‑driven or asynchronous architectures ensuring secure and reliable data exchange. Extensive background in SAFe Agile methodologies, large-scale initiatives and managing geographically distributed teams.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools such as Git, JIRA, Jenkins, and Dynatrace to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner across engineering, product, and enterprise teams to establish platform standards, reusable frameworks, integration patterns, and architectural guardrails that ensure consistent delivery at scale.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in clear, business-friendly language.

Preferred:

  • People-management experience, including leading, coaching, and developing teams.
  • Solid understanding of the hospitality industry, including service requirements, operational culture, and client expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide and influence appropriate courses of action
  • Prior experience as an Enterprise or Solution Architect.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML services (Salesforce or cloud‑based) and their application to service operations, associate productivity, and platform optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging technologies, lead proofs of concept, and guide adoption into governed, enterprise‑ready solutions.

CORE WORK ACTIVTIES

  • Provide technical leadership for a team of Salesforce developers and architects, setting engineering expectations and coaching best practices.
  • Lead solution architecture and translate business and technical requirements into well-architected Salesforce designs.
  • Own solution estimation, sizing, and delivery planning, providing clear level-of-effort and timeline recommendations.
  • Guide build decisions by evaluating requirements and determining the right approach (configuration, automation, or custom development) to balance speed, quality, and maintainability.
  • Establish technical governance and quality gates by reviewing and approving architecture/design artifacts, code, test strategy, and release plans.
  • Define and enforce Salesforce engineering standards, patterns, and delivery methodologies across the team and partners.
  • Lead execution across multiple initiatives by prioritizing work, managing dependencies, and ensuring delivery within agreed scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Set technical direction by staying current on Salesforce capabilities and evaluating new features, products, and architectural patterns for adoption.
