The Asia Data Office is looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our team to support our regional partners. If you have passion for data and a desire to drive quality data solutions within a data driven culture, then read on to learn more about this opportunity!
Business Intelligence (BI) is a foundational component of delivering the insights to our organization to meet this strategic pillar. This role will be critical towards execution of the priority to position Manulife as a digital customer leader by supporting a robust BI platform and delivery framework for various business reporting initiatives.
We are looking for the right individual who would be interested in the opportunity to support and enhance our BI capabilities, strong willingness to learn and build BI delivery skills through team collaboration, desire to drive and execute on our data strategy, willing to help mature our BI practices, and is looking for an opportunity to embrace technical, operational, and team lead responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Play team lead role for the delivery of priority global, regional, and local BI programs for various businesses and functions.
- Partner with business stakeholders, Product Owners, and subject matter experts to gather, analyze, validate, and document business requirements.
- Prepare project plan and subsidiary plan (communication, training plan etc) and project registers (risk, issues, actions, decisions)
- Direct the day-to-day project activities and manage the team towards project objectives.
- Lead the team to deliver required ETL and other data applications via Cloud-based Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) platform.
- Lead the team to execute data gathering and cleansing to ensure data accuracy and reliability, data transformation and integration into suitable format for analysis, developing charts/graphs and dashboards to present data insights to stakeholders through compelling narratives supported by visualizations.
- Facilitate workshops, requirement discovery sessions, process mapping exercises, and solution design discussions.
- Handle problem resolution and escalates issues/risks to sponsors / steering committee as required.
- Contribute to standards and best practices across different functions within Asia Data Office Team.
- Support System Integrated Testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), business validation, and production readiness activities.
Required Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience in BI Analyst, Data Analyst, BI Engneer, Data Engineer
- Proficient in Data Manipulation, Data Analysis, Data Warehousing, Data Mining & Extraction, Data Visualization, and ETL processes
- Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, R, Spark, and Excel for data querying, manipulation and analysis
- Experience with big data tools such as ADLS, Data Factory, DataBricks, etc
- Ability to interpret and translate terminology between technical and business users
- Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse teams across various regions.
- Ability to translate complex business problems into actionable analytical and technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience creating user stories, business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, use cases, workflow diagrams, and acceptance criteria.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and iterative delivery methodologies.
- Proficient written and oral communication skills in the English language
