Five Below is looking for a Senior Product Manager, Master Data Management to lead the strategy, roadmap, and execution of a modern MDM platform that improves how core enterprise data is defined, governed, managed, and adopted across the business. This role will focus first on MDM platform capabilities, governance, workflows, and organizational adoption, with priority ownership across product attributes, store attributes, and the core data domains that support merchandising, stores, and enterprise operations.
This leader will operate at the intersection of business process, data, and technology. They will partner closely with merchandising, stores, supply chain, finance, data, engineering, and architecture teams to create scalable source-of-truth data products, establish strong stewardship and governance models, and ensure master data is trusted, traceable, and usable across enterprise systems and analytics. It is an opportunity to work at one of the world’s fastest growing value retailers while helping define and build a best-in-class, quality-driven data platform.
OWNERSHIP:
- Product strategy and roadmap for the MDM platform, with emphasis on governance, workflow orchestration, attribute management, quality, lineage, and adoption
- Product ownership for key master data domains, especially product, store, item, and location-related attributes and reference data used across merchandising, stores, supply chain, and analytics
- Cross-functional operating model that defines how business, data, and engineering teams collaborate to create, maintain, approve, and consume master data.
- Integration patterns that connect master data into upstream and downstream systems, reporting, and enterprise analytics workflows.
- Change management and adoption plans that help teams embrace new workflows, standards, and tools across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for master data management in partnership with business and technology leaders
- Lead product discovery, requirements gathering, prioritization, and release planning for MDM platform capabilities and related enterprise data initiatives
- Build, maintain, and prioritize Agile backlogs; write clear epics and user stories; and partner with engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes predictably
- Lead the design of scalable workflows for managing core attributes and master records across product, store, item, and location domains
- Establish clear operating models, decision rights, ownership structures, and RACI alignment across stakeholders
- Lead discussions around platform enhancements, system integrations, APIs, and data workflows to support long-term scale and interoperability
- Partner with engineering and architecture to define the right platform, data model, governance model, and technical approach for long-term scale
- Drive the creation of trusted, reusable master data assets that improve consistency across planning, allocation, POS, supply chain, finance, HR, and eCommerce systems
- Support enterprise-scale initiatives related to MDM, product onboarding, and data distribution across operational and analytical ecosystems
- Ensure master data products support enterprise reporting and analytics through consistent dimensional definitions, attribute history, and controlled source-of-truth views across time, location, and item domains
- Partner with business teams to define stewardship processes, data standards, update frequency, and governance expectations for key attributes
- Lead adoption efforts by socializing the vision, coaching teams into new ways of working, and ensuring the platform is embedded in day-to-day processes
- Define KPIs, OKRs, and success metrics to measure product impact, operational effectiveness, adoption, and data quality improvements
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management experience, with significant experience in data products, platforms, or enterprise systems
- Strong experience writing epics, user stories, and managing Agile backlogs in close partnership with software engineering teams
- Experience owning or contributing to master data management, data governance, PIM, ERP, merchandising systems, product onboarding, or related data platforms
- Strong understanding of master data concepts such as golden records, stewardship, lineage, survivorship, workflow, auditability, and lifecycle management
- Experience in a role that blends technical product management, Agile software delivery, and domain expertise in product data management
- Demonstrated ability to lead both strategy and execution in complex cross-functional environments
- Ability to work fluently with business stakeholders, engineers, architects, and data teams
- Experience building process-heavy products where user adoption, change management, and governance are as important as technical delivery
- 3+ years of experience working with relational databases, with the ability to write basic SQL required
- Experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, and data governance capabilities in modern lakehouse environments
- Strong analytical and systems thinking, with the ability to connect business outcomes to data models, workflows, platform design, and integration patterns
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience aligning senior leaders around priorities and tradeoffs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in retail, merchandising, supply chain, store operations, or omnichannel commerce
- Experience with product, item, assortment, location, or store data domains
- Familiarity with enterprise data platforms, APIs, workflow tools, and modern analytics ecosystems
- Experience supporting data products used by both operational teams and analytics and reporting consumers
- Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate work, with sound judgment and a responsible approach to quality, governance, and risk
- Comfort working in environments that are building new operating models while modernizing underlying platforms and processes
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success means building an MDM product capability that is trusted by the business, scalable for technology teams, and embedded in how the company operates. You will help create clear governance, durable workflows, and high-confidence master data products that improve consistency, speed, and decision-making across the enterprise.
