Full description

Come help us build the AWS DevOps Agent, a frontier agent that transforms how ops incidents are investigated and remediated.

We're looking for engineers who want to shape this transformation. You'll work with our exceptional team and will build at the intersection of AI and software engineering. We're building systems that seamlessly fit into a customer's environment where we then apply agentic approaches to lighten the customers' ops load. We help builders resolve incidents quickly in live systems, and then learn from those incidents to make systemic improvements.

Your impact will be immediate and visible. You'll ship features that directly improve how our customers operate applications in AWS and other clouds. As a software development engineer you'll also be helping us shape and improve how our team operates.

Key job responsibilities You'll shape the technical direction and architecture of the DevOps Agent service. You'll work directly with customers to uncover real-world development challenges and translate them into product capabilities—staying true to Amazon's customer-obsessed approach. You'll use DevOps Agent in your day to day work to identify and then drive improvements across the entirety of our service.

Your responsibilities span the full lifecycle: from architectural decisions to hands-on development. You'll help define all aspects of our service, for example how our agent investigates and resolves incidents, how it learns from each investigation and gets better, and how it integrates with existing customer systems

You'll balance innovation with operational excellence, making technical choices that enable development velocity while meeting AWS's standards for scale and security.

Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience - 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience - 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience - Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field - Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
