Position Overview

NBCP Communications Systems is seeking a technically strong Network Engineer with hands-on experience designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise IT networks and infrastructure.

This is not strictly a traditional IT position. The successful candidate will initially apply their networking and IT expertise to NBCP projects while being trained to become an AV Systems Engineer, designing complex network-based audiovisual, collaboration, VTC, command-and-control, and secure communications systems for Federal, DoD, education, and commercial clients around the country. Extended out of state travel is normal.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, implement, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN network infrastructure.
  • Configure and support managed network switches, routers, servers, workstations, and connected devices.
  • Design and maintain IP addressing, VLANs, subnetting, routing, QoS, and network segmentation.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity, bandwidth, configuration, hardware, and endpoint issues.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain IT infrastructure and computer equipment.
  • Analyze network requirements and develop appropriate infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain network diagrams, configuration records, equipment schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Support system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and field deployment.
  • Coordinate with engineers, programmers, project managers, installers, and client IT personnel.
  • Support secure Government environments requiring strict network separation and configuration control.

AV Engineering Development

NBCP will train the selected Network Engineer to apply their IT knowledge to professional AV systems engineering.

The candidate will progressively learn to:

  • Design AV-over-IP network architectures.
  • Engineer conference rooms, classrooms, VTC suites, auditoriums, operations centers, and command-and-control environments.
  • Integrate displays, video walls, cameras, microphones, DSPs, control processors, codecs, and AV-over-IP endpoints.
  • Design network architectures supporting audio, video, control, and collaboration traffic.
  • Develop system drawings, signal-flow diagrams, equipment schedules, and engineering packages.
  • Support system programming, commissioning, testing, and final acceptance.
  • Work toward industry certifications including AVIXA CTS/CTS-D, Dante, QSC, Crestron, Extron, Biamp, and other manufacturer certifications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or closely related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in network engineering, IT infrastructure, or network administration.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting managed Ethernet switches and IP networks.
  • Strong understanding of:

 • TCP/IP

  •  • VLANs
  •  • Subnetting
  •  • Routing
  •  • QoS
  •  • DHCP/DNS
  •  • Network security
  •  • Copper and fiber infrastructure
  •
  • Experience supporting servers, computers, network-connected equipment, and related IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to read and develop technical drawings and network diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability and willingness to work directly with equipment—not solely from a desk.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Security & Background Requirements

NBCP performs work within sensitive U.S. Government and DoD environments. Candidates must:

  • Be capable of successfully completing required criminal, employment, and security background investigations.
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain any U.S. Government security clearance required for the position.
  • Maintain the personal and professional standards required for access to controlled and classified Government facilities.

Candidate We Want

We are looking for a Network Engineer who wants to become more than a Network Engineer.

The ideal candidate already has a strong IT and networking foundation, understands how complex systems communicate, and wants to expand that expertise into professional AV systems engineering. NBCP will provide the AV-specific training and certification path; the candidate must bring the IT foundation, technical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, discipline, and willingness to learn.
