The Opportunity
The Solutions Architect serves as a senior technical and consultative partner to MIC clients, prospective clients, and internal teams. This position is responsible for understanding each client’s clinical workflows, technical environment, business objectives, and requirements and translating those needs into secure, scalable solutions using MIC products and services. This role connects pre-sales discovery, solution design, technical validation, implementation handoff, customer expansion, and product feedback. The ideal candidate can communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders and is comfortable working in complex healthcare environments.
What You Will Do
Technical Leadership and Solution Consulting
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, prospective clients, and internal stakeholders.
• Partner with Sales and Account Executives to lead consultative discovery, technical discussions, and product demonstrations.
• Identify and document customer pain points, desired outcomes, technical requirements, decision criteria, timelines, stakeholders, and potential risks.
• Contribute clinical and technical expertise to client presentations, proposals, RFP responses, security assessments, and technical questionnaires.
• Participate in account planning to identify technical dependencies, potential barriers, and strategies for successful implementation.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to peers or individual contributors, as assigned, and help resolve technical or project-related challenges.
Solution Architecture and Technical Validation
• Assess client environments, including healthcare data ecosystems, system architecture, interface design, interoperability, AI and IoT technologies, predictive analytics, and related technical considerations.
• Validate technical requirements in collaboration with client stakeholders and internal MIC teams.
• Advise clients on networking, security, authentication, user provisioning, interfaces, system integrations, and data requirements related to MIC solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including evaluation forms, architecture diagrams, interface diagrams, data requirements, risks, dependencies, and technical decisions.
• Gather and manage customer-specific technical and data requirements throughout the sales and solution-development process.
• Provide on-site technical support when needed, including troubleshooting interfaces, reviewing system logs, assisting with certificate installation, and addressing integration issues.
Implementation, Customer Success, and Account Growth
• Facilitate structured handoffs to the Implementation team, ensuring that requirements, solution architecture, client expectations, risks, dependencies, and success criteria are clearly documented.
• Collaborate with Implementation and other post-sale teams to support successful deployments and long-term customer adoption.
• Serve as a technical voice of the customer by communicating client requirements, challenges, success criteria, and opportunities to internal teams.
• Help define and validate success measures that may support value realization, customer references, case studies, and future expansion.
• Evaluate existing client environments to identify additional use cases, integrations, and deployment opportunities that deliver customer value.
• Support clinical and technical discussions related to account growth and the expanded use of MIC products and services.
Product, Research, and Innovation
• Provide input into product development and software enhancements based on customer needs, industry standards, regulatory requirements, scalability, and market trends.
• Inform product-roadmap and feature-prioritization discussions by synthesizing customer feedback, technical requirements, and field observations.
• Partner with Product Marketing to define and validate technical requirements for new products, features, and market introductions.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Research, Analytics, AI, and Implementation teams on custom projects, integrations, and new applications or features.
• Evaluate requirements related to electronic medical record integrations, downstream systems, interfaces, data flows, analytics, and other technologies needed to achieve a client’s desired future state.
• Translate complex customer requirements into clear, actionable technical recommendations for internal teams.
Project and Client Management
• Manage multiple sales opportunities, projects, and client initiatives while maintaining quality, accuracy, and responsiveness.
• Prioritize work based on customer impact, organizational objectives, deadlines, risk, and professional judgment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of technical requirements, decisions, risks, dependencies, and customer commitments.
• Work independently in a remote environment while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Travel to client locations and business-related events as required.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical or clinical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Eight or more years of experience in healthcare IT, clinical technology, clinical informatics, or a related healthcare environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer networks, systems architecture, and technical integrations.
• Experience with security, authentication, and user-provisioning requirements.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate complex clinical and technical information for technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and working independently in a remote environment.
• Ability to travel approximately 50% and work periodically outside standard business hours to meet client or project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in clinical engineering, clinical informatics, or a related field.
• Experience with medical devices or Software as a Medical Device.
• Knowledge of HL7, healthcare interfaces, or other healthcare interoperability standards.
• Experience with clinical workflows, healthcare data flows, or electronic medical record and clinical information systems, including flowsheets.
• Experience with web and cloud architecture.
• Experience supporting analytics, research, AI, or data-driven healthcare projects.
• Experience with complex enterprise software implementations or technical sales.
Working Conditions
• This is a remote position requiring prolonged computer use and participation in virtual client and internal meetings.
• The position requires travel to hospitals and other client locations, including walkthroughs in active patient-care environments such as operating rooms, intensive care units, and emergency departments.
• Periodic extended or nonstandard work hours
• may be required to meet client or internal deadlines.
• This position may provide day-to-day guidance and coordination to peers or individual contributors. Formal supervisory responsibilities, if applicable, will be communicated as part of the position’s assigned scope.
