This is a remote position.

ShuruTech is a rapidly growing B2B IT services company specializing in building scalable, secure, and tailored software solutions for global clients. Our focus spans across CRM development, product engineering, cloud transformation, and automation. We’re passionate about empowering businesses to innovate and grow with custom technology solutions.

We are looking for a Lead Java Engineer with strong backend engineering experience and hands-on expertise in document parsing and document processing systems.

You will build scalable services responsible for ingesting, parsing, extracting, transforming, and processing information from formats such as PDF, DOC/DOCX, XLS/XLSX, PPT/PPTX, HTML, XML, CSV, and scanned documents.

  • Design and build scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Develop document ingestion, parsing, extraction, and transformation pipelines.
  • Extract text, tables, metadata, images, and structured information from different document formats.
  • Work with libraries such as Apache Tika, PDFBox, Apache POI, iText, or similar tools.
  • Integrate OCR solutions for scanned and image-based documents.
  • Build asynchronous and event-driven processing workflows using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
  • Develop REST APIs for document upload, processing, extraction, and retrieval.
  • Handle corrupted files, parsing failures, unsupported formats, and partial processing scenarios.
  • Optimize systems for high-volume processing, concurrency, memory utilization, and latency.
  • Participate in system design, code reviews, debugging, and production issue resolution.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices where applicable.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend/software engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience building REST APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems.
  • Hands-on experience with document parsing, ingestion, extraction, or processing systems.
  • Experience with Apache Tika, PDFBox, Apache POI, iText, or equivalent libraries.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous processing, and JVM performance.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Strong understanding of system design, data structures, and API design.
  • Experience with Docker, Git, CI/CD, and cloud environments.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
