About the Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our global Infrastructure team. 

This is a varied, hands-on technical role encompassing hardware and infrastructure deployment, server management, incident resolution, and the development of internal tools and systems that support our business and customers. 

You will also act as a subject-matter expert across technologies such as cPanel, Plesk and virtualisation, helping to improve the reliability, scalability, security and automation of our hosting infrastructure. 

A strong working knowledge of systems automation and configuration management, preferably using Ansible, is essential. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Deploy, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based hosting infrastructure.  
  • Manage virtualised environments using technologies such as KVM and Proxmox.  
  • Develop and maintain automated configuration-management and server-provisioning solutions.  
  • Build and improve internal tools and systems that support operational and business requirements.  
  • Monitor infrastructure performance, availability and capacity, identifying and resolving issues proactively 
  • Troubleshoot complex incidents across servers, databases, web services, networks and hosting-control panels.  
  • Act as a subject-matter expert in one or more areas 
  • Proactively maintain our systems - contribute to infrastructure improvements that enhance reliability, scalability, security and operational efficiency 
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation.  
  • Collaborate effectively with Infrastructure, Support and other technical teams across the business.  
  • Participate in an on-call rota where required. 

What You’ll Bring

  • Linux systems administration across RHEL-based and Debian-based distributions.  
  • Bash scripting.  
  • At least five years’ professional experience in Linux systems administration.  
  • Virtualisation technologies, particularly KVM and Proxmox.  
  • Configuration management, automation and server-provisioning tools, particularly Ansible; experience with AWX or Salt is also valuable.  
  • Relational databases, particularly MariaDB and MySQL 
  • Web servers, including Apache, LiteSpeed and/or NGINX. 
  • Diagnosing and resolving complex technical and operational issues.  
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.  
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues. 

Nice to Have / Preferred Qualifications 

  • Container technologies such as Docker or Podman.  
  • Programming or scripting using Python, PHP or Go.  
  • Additional virtualisation technologies, such as Xen and Hyper-V.  
  • Hardware and software RAID configuration and troubleshooting.  
  • Windows systems administration, including IIS, Microsoft DNS and PowerShell.
