Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer

About Avoma

Avoma is an intelligent meeting assistant that helps revenue and customer-facing teams automate the busywork around meetings. We use NLP and machine learning to transcribe, summarize, and extract key topics and action items — automatically syncing that data back into the CRM so teams can focus on the conversation, not the note-taking.

We're a series-A venture-funded, early-stage startup with thousands of paid customers and consistent month-over-month growth.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer to take end-to-end ownership of our AWS cloud infrastructure, reliability, and deployment pipelines. As Avoma scales rapidly, you will architect resilient, highly available systems capable of seamlessly processing high-volume video, audio, and meeting data workloads. Operating with high autonomy, you will drive infrastructure decisions from dynamic compute scaling and container orchestration to Infrastructure as Code and automated releases—ensuring modern, zero-downtime scalability across our stack.

The Bar We're Hiring For

We're not looking for a reactive system admin who just resets servers. We want an engineer who thinks like an owner:

  • You have a natural bias toward automation—you look to script and codify repetitive processes to ensure long-term scalability and reliability.
  • You dig to the root cause of infrastructure and deployment failures rather than applying quick patches, ensuring incidents don't repeat.
  • You anticipate scale bottlenecks in network bandwidth, instance limits, and container scheduling early, ensuring services stay rock-solid under heavy loads.
  • You raise the bar for operational excellence across the team through high-standard code reviews, post-mortems, and infrastructure RFCs.
  • You go beyond keeping the lights on — you understand application architecture deeply (Django/Python) and partner directly with backend engineers to optimize production deployments.
  • You thrive in ambiguity, comfortably taking ownership to drive outcomes, bring clarity to undefined problems, and structure your own path forward rather than relying on well-defined tasks.

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience as a DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineer managing production cloud environments at scale.
  • Deep AWS Expertise — Strong mastery of core AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPCs, networking, security groups, and IAM policies.
  • Auto Scaling & Load Management — Hands-on experience configuring Auto Scaling Groups (ASG) and writing custom scaling policies (target tracking, step scaling) based on real-time metrics.
  • Container & Orchestration Mastery — Production experience deploying and managing workloads using Docker, AWS ECS, and Kubernetes.
  • Terraform Expertise — Proven proficiency writing, modularizing, and maintaining production Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
  • Automated Deployments — Hands-on experience with continuous deployment pipelines using AWS CodeDeploy for blue/green or rolling deployment strategies, GitHub Actions, and GitOps (Argo CD).
  • Strong Automation & Scripting — High proficiency in Python and Bash for operations and tooling. Experience supporting Python/Django application stacks is a plus.
  • Production Observability — Experience implementing telemetry, log aggregation, and alerting using tools like Datadog, Grafana, and Sentry.
  • Resourceful with AI Tools — You actively leverage modern AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to write Terraform modules, debug configurations, and accelerate your workflow.
  • Communication & Incident Leadership — Clear written communication for architecture proposals, runbooks, and incident post-mortems.

Location

This is an on-site role based in Pune.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, direct hire.
  • Transparent salary structure: ₹30,00,000 – ₹38,00,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Employee Stock Options Program (ESOP).
  • 15 days of vacation annually, on top of company holidays.
  • 10 days of sick time annually, separate from vacation and holidays.
