Role Purpose
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining data solutions on Microsoft Fabric, ensuring that data is structured, reliable and usable across the organization.
In this role, you will engage closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into scalable data models, data pipelines and reporting solutions. You will take ownership of ensuring that financial and operational data is correctly modelled and supports consistent, highquality reporting.
The position requires a strong combination of technical data engineering skills and business understanding. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the data foundation that supports reporting, analytics and future automation of business processes.
You will also play a key role in the ongoing development of MCI’s hybrid data platform across Microsoft Fabric and Databricks, ensuring alignment, performance and best practices in data architecture.
This role is critical in reducing dependency on external consultants, improving responsiveness, and building inhouse knowledge and ownership of the data platform - from source system to report
What We Are Looking For
Theoretic competences
· Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand complex data structures and relationships
· Solid understanding of data modelling principles (e.g. dimensional modelling, data warehousing concepts)
· Experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar modern data platform (e.g. Azure Data Platform)
· Strong knowledge of data processing, transformation and pipeline design
· Experience working with large and complex datasets, ensuring performance and scalability
· Understanding of financial and operational data structures (e.g. ERP / D365 is a plus)
· Knowledge of Power BI and semantic models is an advantage
· Understanding of data governance, data quality and best practices in data architecture
· Ability to bridge technical data topics with business requirements
· Ability to identify relevant data in source systems - that is needed to facilitate business reporting needs
· Familiarity with integrating multiple data sources across platforms (e.g. Databricks and Fabric)
· Staying curious on business needs, and help business departments formulate what they need to drive their business
