About Luna

Luna Innovations Incorporated (Luna) is a global leader in fiber optic test and measurement and distributed sensing, trusted by aerospace manufacturers, defense contractors, research institutions, and commercial operators worldwide. We are a team of innovators who engineer, manufacture, and relentlessly pursue quality, driven by a shared commitment to exceeding our customers’ expectations.

We are seeking a Senior Netsuite Business Systems Analyst to join our team, targeting candidates based at our Blacksburg, VA office.

Position Overview

This role is the primary NetSuite and Arena PLM systems resource, translating Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Management and Sales Operations needs into scalable system solutions. This hands-on role will advance capabilities across MRP, BOM and item governance, work orders, advanced procurement, NPI workflows, integrations, and process automation.

Partnering closely with Sales Operations, this role will establish the appropriate division of responsibility between NetSuite and Salesforce. This position will help move ERP-native processes back into NetSuite, establish reliable integrations between the platforms, and ensure Salesforce users have access to accurate product, pricing, lead-time, order, and fulfillment information without duplicating transactional processes across systems.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Product Systems

  • Drive the continued implementation and optimization of NetSuite MRP for the OCT Business Unit.
  • Establish item and BOM data governance in NetSuite, including tools and controls that identify gaps, stale records, and data-quality issues that affect MRP and production.
  • Configure and support NetSuite work orders, operation-task data, and production-readiness processes.
  • Establish NetSuite as the authoritative system for ERP-native data and processes, including items, pricing, lead times, orders, inventory, fulfillment, and costing.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Operations to ensure NetSuite provides the accurate product, pricing, lead-time, order, and fulfillment information needed to support customers.
  • Own the Arena PLM system architecture and configuration, including workflow design, automation, permissions, reporting, and NetSuite integration, in partnership with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Operations, and Quality & Product Control.
  • Configure Arena Projects to support the OCT NPI process, including stage-gate templates, entry and exit criteria, task assignments, approvals, and controlled documentation.
  • Configure and improve Arena BOM, revision, and ECO workflows in partnership with Q&PC, which retains process ownership, while reducing manual administration and ensuring approved changes are accurately transferred to NetSuite.

Development, Automation & Integrations

  • Develop and maintain NetSuite workflows, SuiteScript solutions, and process automations that improve efficiency, data quality, and controls.
  • Design, implement, and support the Arena–NetSuite integration that transfers approved items, BOMs, revisions, and supplier data from product development into production.
  • Design and maintain reliable NetSuite–Salesforce integrations for product, pricing, lead-time, order, backlog, shipment, and fulfillment information.
  • Improve or replace manual CSV-based processes to transfer information between NetSuite and Salesforce.
  • Partner with the Salesforce Systems Administrator to coordinate cross-system changes and prevent unintended downstream impacts.
  • Own the NetSuite components of Celigo integrations, including technical monitoring, error resolution, and credential management in coordination with IT.
  • Develop reconciliation and exception controls that identify failed integrations, missing records, conflicting values, and cross-system data-quality issues.
  • Partner with the Analytics & AI role to provide governed and documented NetSuite data for Bookings, Billings, Backlog, forecast, profitability, and operational reporting.

Governance, Support & Adoption

  • Serve as the primary NetSuite and Arena partner for Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Operations, Sales Operations and Customer Operations.
  • Evaluate business needs and determine whether the appropriate solution is system configuration, automation, integration, data correction, or process change.
  • Diagnose configuration, code, integration, data, and process issues and drive them through resolution.
  • Lead requirements, prioritization, testing, release management, user training, and adoption for NetSuite and Arena enhancements.
  • Maintain system and process documentation, build internal expertise, and reduce reliance on external consultants and individual knowledge holders.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of hands-on NetSuite functional, configuration, and development experience, including proficiency with SuiteScript 2.x, SuiteQL, saved searches, workflows, and custom records.
  • Experience configuring or developing ERP solutions within a manufacturing, inventory, distribution, or supply-chain environment, with working knowledge of MRP, BOM structures, work orders, inventory, procurement, and lead-time management.
  • Experience building or maintaining NetSuite integrations using SuiteTalk, REST APIs, OAuth, and related data-extraction methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, or Finance stakeholders and translate business requirements into scalable NetSuite solutions.
  • Ability to determine whether issues originate in system configuration, custom code, integration logic, source data, or business-process execution and drive them through resolution.
  • Experience with Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft, or a comparable integration platform supporting ERP, CRM, or PLM integrations.
  • Reporting and controls: Experience creating NetSuite saved searches, exception reporting, or SuiteAnalytics workbooks that support operational visibility, data quality, controls, or financial processes.
  • Experience leading requirements, testing, documentation, training, and adoption for significant system or process changes.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to other Luna locations as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NetSuite certification, such as SuiteFoundation, Administrator, ERP Consultant, or a manufacturing-related certification.
  • Experience configuring Arena PLM for BOM management, revision control, ECO workflows, product releases, and NPI stage-gate processes.
  • Experience integrating Arena or another PLM platform with NetSuite or a comparable ERP.
  • Experience supporting bidirectional NetSuite–Salesforce data flows or the Celigo NetSuite–Salesforce connector.
  • Working knowledge of Python and the ability to understand scripts that consume or transform NetSuite API data.
  • Experience in a hardware, electronics, photonics, or precision-manufacturing environment.
  • Experience bringing previously outsourced ERP configuration, development, and support capabilities in-house.
