Full description

Texas-based statewide systems integration company seeks an Assistant Technical Project Engineer for municipal water/wastewater Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, electrical, instrumentation, and controls projects throughout Texas. Services include project management and some estimating, bidding, and quoting. We are looking for an engineer to help design SCADA systems.

Duties:

  • Project liaison with general contractors, engineers, owners, and other subcontractors working with municipal and retail public utilities for the water/wastewater industry.
  • Monitors plan rooms and other sources for potential projects.
  • Reviews plans and specifications or participates in the design and development of quotations based on scopes of work.
  • Manages personnel and resources for the projects.
  • Orders materials, addresses final inspections, and prepares close-out documents.
  • Prepares quotations for contractors during the bid phase.
  • Manage the bid process, contracts, and requirements.
  • Prepares take-offs and estimates using bidding software.
  • Responsible for submittals and O&M's
  • Attends project progress meetings

Skills/Qualifications:

Should be familiar with the water/wastewater industry, plant process control, and water/wastewater plant operations. Certified operator experience is a practical transition field to this position. An understanding of SCADA technology and its uses is an asset.

  • Experienced in reviewing engineering plans and specifications and specifically understanding PI&D diagrams.
  • Knowledgeable about the application of different instruments (pressure, flow, level, and HACA analytical instruments).
  • Familiar with PLC parts and card applications (DI, DO, AI, AO), control panel parts, including terminal blocks, motor starters, VFDs, DC power supplies, wire ducts, UL508A, and surge suppression.
  • Generate PLC I/O lists from P&ID documentation.
  • Aware of different communication protocols: Modbus RS485, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet, DF1, and Fiber Optic Network configurations
  • Can understand project status milestones by communicating with system integrators who are configuring and programming control systems.
  • Understands electrical installations for control and instrumentation signals.
