Full description
Are you curious about how data can help answer real business questions?
Do you enjoy breaking down complex problems and turning insight into action?
Finance Analytics sits at the intersection of Finance, Commercial and Data Analytics. We partner with teams across the business to understand what is really driving performance — and what Sky should do next. Our work supports decisions that materially affect revenue, cost, customer behaviour and profit. That could mean identifying opportunities to reduce churn, understanding the impact of pricing decisions, analysing customer engagement, or finding new ways to improve commercial performance.
We welcome applicants from different backgrounds and career stages, and you’ll be joining a team that brings together people from finance, commercial and data analytics backgrounds, with a wide range of experiences and perspectives.
What connects us is curiosity: we enjoy solving difficult problems, working with data, building strong partnerships and turning complex analysis into clear insight that helps Sky make better commercial decisions. If you’re curious, analytical and keen to learn, this would be a great fit.
What you’ll do
- Take the lead on high-impact commercial and financial questions where data helps Sky make better decisions
- Shape ambiguous business problems into clear analytical questions
- Find, analyse and connect data from multiple sources to understand key performance drivers
- Use tools such as SQL and Tableau to analyse, manipulate and visualise complex datasets
- Turn analysis into clear, objective and timely recommendations for stakeholders
- Explain what the numbers mean, why they matter and what the business should do next
- Build strong partnerships across Sky to influence decisions and improve performance
- Improve how the team works by simplifying repeatable activity and using automation or AI where it adds value
- Develop your and the team's skills, explore new tools and contribute to an environment where everyone can do their best work
What you’ll bring
We know great analysts can come from different backgrounds. You do not need to meet all of the desirable criteria to apply. We’re most interested in how you think, how you solve problems and how you use data to make better decisions.
Essential criteria:
We’re looking for people who can demonstrate:
- Strong experience in analysing data to solve business problems and support decision-making
- Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to break down ambiguous questions and identify a practical way forward
- Commercial understanding, with the ability to connect analysis to business performance, customer outcomes and financial impact
- Clear communication skills, able to explain complex analysis and conclusions to non-technical audiences
- Keen attention to detail, with a focus on producing analysis that is accurate, objective and useful
- Curiosity and a proactive approach, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions, build effective working relationships and get things done.
- Experience analysing structured or complex datasets using tools such as SQL, Python, R, Excel or similar
- Using visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Looker
Desirable skills and experience:
It would be helpful, but not essential, if you also have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Working in a finance, commercial, strategy, analytics, data, consulting or other problem-solving focused role
- Translating business questions into analytical approaches, including defining the relevant metrics, data requirements and outputs
- Using automation, AI or repeatable analytical approaches to improve pace, consistency or quality of work
