Position Summary
Responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting business intelligence, reporting, and data visualization solutions primarily using Microsoft Power BI. Works with data from enterprise systems including SAP, Amazon Redshift, SQL Server, and other operational databases to deliver actionable insights for business users.
Partners with business stakeholders, analysts, and senior developers to gather requirements, create reports and dashboards, and support data-driven decision-making. Assists with data integration, data validation, and report optimization while adhering to business intelligence best practices. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, and data visualization concepts, along with a strong desire to learn and grow within a collaborative analytics environment.
This is a term position anticipated to be needed through Fall 2028 but may be ended or extended based on organizational needs, funding availability, and performance.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
- Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand reporting needs, and translate them into effective Power BI solutions.
- Create and maintain data models, relationships, measures, and calculations using DAX.
- Connect Power BI to multiple data sources including SQL databases, Amazon Redshift, SAP data sources, and other enterprise systems.
- Support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes while ensuring data accuracy and quality.
- Perform report testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure data integrity and user satisfaction.
- Monitor and optimize Power BI report performance and usability.
- Document report designs, data definitions, business rules, and technical specifications.
- Provide end-user support, training, and guidance related to Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, and senior BI developers to implement reporting solutions and resolve data issues.
- Support Power BI workspace administration, report publishing, and distribution processes.
- Stay current with Power BI features, data visualization best practices, and emerging analytics technologies including AI-enabled reporting capabilities.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered.
Experience
1-3 years of experience developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI. Experience creating Power BI data models, measures, and calculations using DAX. Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries. Experience connecting Power BI to multiple data sources including SQL Server, Redshift, SAP, or other enterprise applications. Basic understanding of ETL processes and data integration concepts. Experience publishing, managing, and distributing Power BI reports and dashboards. Familiarity with Power BI Service, workspaces, datasets, dataflows, and scheduled refreshes. Exposure to data warehousing and dimensional modeling concepts preferred. Basic knowledge of Python or R for data analysis is a plus. Experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment preferred. Healthcare, research administration, finance, or human resources reporting experience is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including report development and dashboard design.
- Understanding of DAX, Power Query, and data modeling concepts.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational database fundamentals.

Licenses and Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Microsoft Fabric Fundamentals (preferred)
