Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable technical authority for railway project engineering decisions
  • Ensure compliance with ENR standards, international standards (EN 50126/50128/50129, IEC, ISO), and Hitachi Rail processes
  • Contribute to system architecture and design baselines
  • Ensure integration across signalling, telecom, power, and rolling stock interfaces
  • Manage interfaces with legacy railway infrastructure
  • Support safety assurance activities including hazard analysis and safety case development
  • Coordinate with Independent Safety Assessors (ISA) and ENR authorities
  • Act as technical interface with client and stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks and support engineering changes
  • Manage site engineering, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering teams

Key Deliverables

  • System design documentation and inputs to design baseline
  • Participation in design reviews (PDR, CDR, IDR)
  • Safety and compliance documentation support
  • Interface Control Documents (ICDs) on coordination with Interface Manager.
  • Technical risk registers and mitigation tracking
  • Contribution to ENR technical approvals

Qualifications & Experience

  • University degree in Electrical, Electronics, Systems, or Railway Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience with Railway signaling projects design and implementation
  • 5+ years’ experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Mandatory to have strong oral and written communication skills in English, Spanish is a plus.
  • Involved in the delivery of more than 1 Rail signalling project in some capacity including experience in System Design, System Integration, and System Acceptance
  • Experience in system integration and railway projects
  • Exposure to complex safety-critical railway systems with experience covering full SW and HW development life cycles
  • Experience in ETCS L1 systems is a plus.
