Job summary

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Cloud Platform, the Sr. Cloud Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining and supporting cloud infrastructure and operations for HOOPP’s Investment, Finance, and Risk Management teams. You will collaborate closely with Application Delivery teams, Enterprise Architects, the Project Management Office and Governance, Information Security, Infrastructure Network Product Owners and business partners to ensure that cloud operations and initiatives are fully aligned with organizational objectives.

What you will do:

  • Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable, reliable, and automated cloud infrastructure solutions on cloud platforms, primarily in AWS
  •  Provide technical support, triage, prioritize, track, and resolve production problems, complex network performance issues and operational issues. You will utilize your analytical thinking, creative problem-solving, and judgement to identify root causes and long-term solutions
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and Azure DevOps to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning, network configuration, and operational processes
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement by identifying repetitive operational tasks and delivering AI-enabled innovative solutions that simplify cloud operations, improve efficiency, and enhance developer experience
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud, network, and security services to maximize availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency
  • Collaborate with application, security and cross-functional IT teams to provide technical expertise, integrate and optimize cloud solutions, and resolve network and cloud operational issues
  • Independently lead key initiatives that require interfacing with internal customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design, plan and implement reliable and secure solutions that meet customer and stakeholder requirements
  • Build and maintain cloud platform knowledge assets by leveraging AI tools to automate documentation, improve operational insights, and enable efficient self-service for engineering teams
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide production support and ensure timely incident response outside regular business hours
  • Drive technology innovation by researching and adopting emerging AWS services, AI-powered solutions, cloud-native technologies, DevOps/platform engineering tools, and industry best practices to enhance automation, scalability, security, operational efficiency, and developer experience
  • Mentor junior colleagues and invests time to grow individuals in a technical capacity; acts as a subject matter expert to guide and share knowledge across departmental teams

What you bring: ​

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef) 
  • Extensive experience in IT Infrastructure Operations, cloud platform engineering, network engineering with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure, scripting (bash, Python, PowerShell), CI/CD, automation, and system monitoring, with a focus on troubleshooting and continuous improvement
  • Strong experience configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama, and security features such as Security Rules, URL filtering, proxies, SSL decryption, proxies and threat prevention capabilities
  • Well versed in AWS networking services such as Amazon VPC, load balancers, Internet Gateway, NAT Gateway, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect and security services such as AWS WAF and Shield 
  • In-depth understanding of networking concepts, security principles, and data protection strategies, with the ability to implement best practices for securing cloud infrastructure
  • Proven experience with Windows Server and Linux systems combined with familiarity with Windows Server administration, including Active Directory and DNS 
  • Demonstrated experience with using AI tools to improve IT operations — incident response, troubleshooting, or root cause analysis 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform deep technical analysis and troubleshooting of system and performance issues related to OS configuration, cloud infrastructure, and networking 
  • Experience with vulnerability management, patch management, and maintaining compliance across hybrid environments 
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes 
  • Ability to challenge the status quo respectfully and constructively, contributing ideas that improve processes, systems, and ways of working. 
  • Creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to explore innovative approaches and deliver practical, effective solutions Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and adapt to changing priorities 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Certifications in cloud platforms or infrastructure tools are considered strong assets (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architecture Professional, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, AWS Advanced Networking -Specialty, Azure Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions, Azure Administrator Associate, Terraform Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

 

The expected annual base salary range for this role is: $103,000 - $153,000 CAD 

The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.  

 

This role is eligible to participate in discretionary incentive plan(s), subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan text.
