Requirements

Candidates must have hands-on experience managing technology or software development programmes, preferably within financial services or fintech. A strong understanding of both Agile and waterfall methodologies, along with excellent stakeholder management and technical documentation skills, is required.

Full description

As a Project Manager at MACH, you will lead the delivery of technology programmes in the blockchain and distributed ledger technology space, working across software development lifecycles and client implementations within financial services. You will define scope, coordinate cross-functional teams, and drive projects from initiation to closure, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time and to the standard our clients expect. You will be the central point of accountability for project governance, stakeholder communication, and risk management across technically complex and fast-moving engagements.

Responsibilities include;

  • Day-to-day management of technology delivery programmes, acting as the central point of contact for all project stakeholders across MACH and the client organisation.
  • Own and manage project governance including stakeholder mapping, scheduling of governance forums (e.g. Operating & Steering Committees) and all associated documentation (e.g. project charters, plans, status reports, terms of reference).
  • Ensure appropriate resourcing is in place across software engineering, blockchain development, and business analysis workstreams to meet delivery commitments.
  • Maintain and actively manage the project plan and RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), with particular attention to technical dependencies between blockchain components, APIs, and client infrastructure.
  • Coordinate end-to-end delivery of project workstreams, from requirements and design through development, testing, and go-live, in close collaboration with engineering and business analysis teams.
  • Build and manage relationships with client and internal stakeholders, calibrating communication frequency and depth to the audience, from technical leads to C-suite.
  • Ensure all decisions and outcomes are documented via minutes, sign-offs, and formal project artefacts, maintaining an auditable record throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Support the project team in resolving and escalating risks and issues, facilitating lessons-learned reviews at key milestones to drive continuous improvement across MACH’s delivery practice.
  • Identify and actively manage cross-functional interdependencies, including those between blockchain protocol development, platform integration, and client-side change programmes.
  • Support and challenge the project team to ensure engineering best practices are followed, sprint commitments are met, and the desired product outcome is achieved for the client.
  • Work collaboratively across MACH’s technical and commercial teams to build consensus, manage change, and maintain momentum on complex multi-workstream programmes.
  • Undertake other programme delivery roles and responsibilities as required, including supporting bid activity, client onboarding, and internal capability development.

As an experienced Project Manager, you will have:

  • Hands-on project management experience delivering technology or software development programmes, ideally within financial services or fintech.
  • Solid background in financial services, with sufficient understanding of capital markets, post-trade infrastructure, or digital asset ecosystems to engage credibly with both clients and technical teams.
  • Strong grasp of both Agile and waterfall delivery methodologies, with practical experience applying Agile/Scrum in software development contexts alongside structured governance for client-facing programmes.
  • Stakeholder management skills and excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences and commercial context for engineering teams.
  • Comfortable interacting at all levels, from developers and architects through to client executives and board-level sponsors.
  • Experienced in drafting formal project documentation, including project initiation documents, RAID logs, status reports, sprint plans, and release notes for technical software programmes.
  • Demonstrable skills in workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement, strategic thinking, and presentation, including running sprint ceremonies and client governance forums.
  • Track record of managing technology projects from initiation to go-live, including software releases, platform integrations, and client implementations.
  • Strong problem solver and collaborative team player, able to unblock delivery issues quickly and maintain momentum across distributed or cross-functional teams.
  • Driven by the bigger picture and able to prioritise accordingly, but willing and able to dig into technical detail when delivery demands it.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, client-facing environments where scope, technology, and priorities can shift rapidly.
  • Solution-oriented with a pragmatic approach to delivery, focused on outcomes rather than process for its own sake.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a consulting or managed services organisation, managing external client relationships alongside internal delivery teams.
  • Prince 2, AgilePM, PMP, or equivalent project management accreditation.
  • Experience using project and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, and Visio; familiarity with software development workflows and CI/CD concepts is an advantage.
