In this influential role, you’ll work closely with the Disaster Management Centre of Excellence to design and deliver strategic initiatives across data, analytics, automation and artificial intelligence.

Your work will help improve operational performance, strengthen disaster preparedness and support better outcomes for our customers and communities.

You’ll take a lead role across the full initiative lifecycle, from opportunity identification and requirements definition through to implementation, adoption and closure. You’ll collaborate with Product Owners, technology teams, data scientists, AI specialists, governance forums and external vendors to translate complex business needs into practical, scalable solutions.

More specifically, you will:

  • Elicit, document and manage business, functional, data and non-functional requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops to define business needs, customer outcomes, processes and measures of success.
  • Produce high-quality artefacts including business requirements, user stories, process maps, data models, acceptance criteria and business cases.
  • Partner with Product Owners, technology teams, data scientists and AI specialists to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Support the design, implementation and adoption of AI, automation and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Embed appropriate data governance, data quality, privacy, risk and compliance requirements into solution design and delivery.
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, user acceptance testing and delivery-readiness activities within agile environments.
  • Coordinate testing and validate delivered solutions against agreed requirements and expected outcomes.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations that support operational decision-making, resilience planning and disaster response activities.
  • Prepare and present insights, recommendations, status updates and decision papers to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Proactively identify and manage delivery risks, dependencies, assumptions and issues.
  • Deliver initiatives from planning through to implementation and closure, including projects involving geospatial and AI technology partners.

About You

You are a highly capable Business Analyst with a passion for solving complex business problems and delivering meaningful outcomes through data and technology. You thrive in dynamic environments, can manage competing priorities and are confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Experience working within Financial Services, Insurance or similarly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery and project management practices.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively within a sponsorship-led delivery model.
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives simultaneously while coordinating outcomes across diverse stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with data, analytics, automation and AI-enabled solutions.
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to influence, coach and lead across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong stakeholder and vendor management capabilities.
  • Sound understanding of risk management, governance and compliance considerations.
