The Opportunity
The Senior Cybersecurity Compliance Engineer leads certification projects by collaborating with various agencies to achieve product compliance and certification with Cybersecurity standards. As a key member of the Det-Tronic’s Approvals Engineering Team, this engineer supports the ongoing processes necessary to meet and uphold industry regulations. In this role, the engineer will conduct in-depth product analyses and hands-on testing to ensure compliance, preparing and submitting necessary documentation to regulatory bodies for certification. Additionally, they act as a compliance advisor, assisting other teams by consulting on compliance-related matters working with design teams on sustaining and new product development (NPD), responding to customer and internal inquiries on cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret applicable Cybersecurity standards and apply the requirements to the products
- Act as the business unit subject matter expert on Cybersecurity compliance and applicable standards including IEC 62443
- Understand product requirements and develop certification strategies to meet those requirements
- Work with development teams to derive cybersecurity requirements and technical requirements
- Collaborate with development team to develop, communicate, and implement a cybersecurity strategy and roadmap for products compliant with industry standards including IEC 62443
- Provide expert guidance to Det-Tronics business unit and development teams on cybersecurity concerns and recommended security controls
- Evaluate, develop and implement cybersecurity compliance plans for existing products and new developments
- Develop, refine, and review product cybersecurity requirements to be implementable and testable
- Utilize and maintain cybersecurity evaluation tools (e.g. SD Elements, Threatmodeler, etc.) and processes required for ensuring product cybersecurity
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- At least 5 years of industry experience
- At least 5 years of hands-on firmware development experience.
- At least 3 years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in software/electrical engineering (highly preferred)
- Experience designing and implementing security and safety solutions for products
- Experience with sustaining and new product development projects, and strong working knowledge of product development processes particularly software
- Understand requirements in Cybersecurity standards and apply that knowledge in the evaluation of a product via technical analysis and/or testing
- Follow department operating procedures and have an open attitude for continuous improvement
- Solid excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly present data and articulate test results to agencies and other internal working groups
- Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Demonstrated experience with Cybersecurity and Functional Safety standards (IEC 62443)
